Answer Monday, Part 7

Q: If Lane Kiffin is fired and doesn't go work in the NFL, will he return to USC, or do you thing he could go against Pete Carroll and possibly coach as an offensive coordinator or head coach at a Pacific 10 school? If he returns to USC, will he be the successor to Pete Carroll or will it be Sark or Nick Holt?

A: None of them are the successor to Pete Carroll and I don't think Kiffin would return to USC unless Steve Sarkisian received a head-coaching job because it would be too big a step down to return and not call the plays. Someone like Jack Del Rio or Jeff Fisher would get the first phone calls if Caesar resigned and then it would be on to some head coaches in college football.

You stated that Jack Del Rio or Jeff Fisher would get the first phone calls if Caesar resigns. Doesn't it make more sense that a college coach would be more likely to end up being hired instead of an NFL head coach? My thinking is that whoever follows Caesar is going to have to step into some huge shoes. What is your opinion on who the next coach would be?

The best NFL coach from USC is Mike Holmgren. Mike Holmgren has indicated that he's through coaching and Jim Mora,Jr. will take over in 2009. Then Jack Del Rio is next who has been quoted as selling his soul to coach his Alma Mater. He'd just got a huge salary/contract increase meaning he's NOT going anywhere anytime soon. Would Nick Holt be considered? Jim Fassel?

Um, how about Pete Carroll?

Are we having a truce or NOT? IT.

El Cap, the lost and found department called and said they located your sense of humor. You may want to go pick it up.

I was joking about the Viva Sanchez T-shirt (for which you got bent out of shape for thinking I was serious), and I was merely making light of the fact that Carroll is still here, and talk of a successor makes no sense. It is a literary tool called sarcasm.

I know damn well what sarcasm is. Your taste for jokes is very poor to say the least. BTW I don't share it at ALL, PERIOD. Keep your Brit humor. You stay out of my way and maybe we can get along.
Thank you
