Answer Saturday!

We're heading down the stretch here.

Q: O K, I am sure this is an off-the-wall question. I have been reading about who was there and/or who wasn't there at pick-up games Mayo played at the Galen Center over the summer. What exactly does "pick-up games" at the Galen Center mean? Can I just walk off the street and play in these games? Or at a minimum, could I just walk in and watch any of these pick-up games? I would think there must be some restrictions, for the safety of the players if nothing else, and I'm sure coaches aren't allowed to be there, but curious how this works.

A: Pickup games like this have taken place for years at UCLA and just started at USC since the Galen Center was built. The players either played in college (Alex Stepheson, formerly of North Carolina, James Harden of Arizona State and Seketoure Henry of Nebraska) or usually played at schools like Artesia, Long Beach Jordan or Lynwood. They weren't really public games, but when O.J. Mayo played, Rodney Guillory and Louis Johnson were constant onlookers.

Q: With no USC teams competing this summer, which camp are you more excited about covering: USC Caesar fantasy camp or Matt Leinart "football" camp?

A: Since I don't want to experience the beer bong drills or hear the ``how to suck up to celebrities'' lecture, I think I will pass on the ``football'' camp. But I hear one of the Internet web sites has a female correspondent training for the fantast camp, so that might be worth a look.

Q: With spring practice over and depth charts becoming clearer are there any Trojans thinking about transfering to other schools and also are there any rumors of players from other schools coming to USC?

A: Right now, it's all quiet on the transfer front. Well, actually, that's not completely true. We could have some academic issues that lead to departures, but that's a summer problem.
