A sigh of relief around USC today regarding Joe McKnight.

Q: Are you surprised that whenever an NFL or Division I college head coaching position has opened up these past five or so years, no team has ever interviewed the genius that is Brennan Carroll for those jobs? Could it really be a mere coincidence that he only has a job at USC because his father is the head coach?

A: To paraphrase Claude Rains said in Casablanca, ``I'm shocked, shocked there's been no head-coaching offers.''

Q: With Stepheson and DeRozan plus Gibson and Hackett, Floyd would have a very decent shot at making the tournament. At fUCLA, Stepheson will have to ride the pine for months learning Howland's brand of no-offense choke ball -something he said no to previously. If he actually wants to play, it's pretty clear where he should go.
Doesn't it all boil down to the cloud hovering over the Galen Center?

A: I actually don't think recruits are that worried right now. Stepheson is more concerned with playing time.

Q: After the NCAA violation with Jeff Trepagnier in 2000, how did the compliance office staff allow Rodney Guillory near the program again? Was he not officially disassociated by the university then? If not, why not? Where were the red flags when he reappeared?

A: I believe the compliance office would say it demonstrated this by preventing Guillory from receiving game tickets. Almost everyone in the compliance office was not even working at USC back in 2000. But they did become aware of him. The real question is why did the coaches allow Guillory unlimited access around the program? Aren't they accountable?

Way to go Joe! Finally, some good news on the blog. I am always afraid to read the L.A. Times front page early in the morning (Tel Aviv nuked?), and now I am getting gun-shy reading this blog.

Insulting Howland ball after 3 back to back FF's in the same sentence you comment about merely "making the tournament?" Pathetic.
