A recruit said Monday that UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel is alerting recruits to this USC walk-on tryout video and emphasizing the amount of profanity used as a negative characteristic.

At that is why there is a market for people who wear powder blue and yellow. Just like there are some teams that choose to walk out on practice.

I would not want a candidate near the team if that video scares them away. That appeared to be an official video produced for Pete Carroll's website USCRipsIT.com. Its not like its secretly captured footage..

How did Neuhiesel do in the 2008 March Madness pool by the way?

Recruiting must be going real well for Ricky if its come to that.

That's why the Carrolls are winning national championships and Rick's guys are, well, going over the wall.

The fact that there's a "Mole" here that's getting inside information is funny to me. But if that's part of Rick's plan that's even more funny. As long as Rick keeps recuiting SC recuits it should be a must that they reveal every TRICK ole Rick's got going on!!

Didn't have a stopwatch - "I just do it in my head".
Very funny stuff.

As far as the profanity, I'm sure they got this in high school also, so it's no big deal. As much as the profanity was all the encouragement - "I love you guys", "You're doing great", etc.
I'm glad I'm not Ben Malcolmson though. He took a hit at the end unless that was a inside joke.

Oooooooooh U-C-"WE ARE SCARED"-L-A! That's why the "Baby" Powder Blue and Yellow run over the wall at the end of Spring Practice in West Beverly Hills. They all realize that they would be running for the fence after one hour with Coach Brennan. Intensity brings victories. Fight On!

LAWYER JOHN said:

During my tenure at SC I too was a walk-on. I dropped a pass that was lasered to me from about 10 feet away, Coach John McKay casually walked up to me and said, "You drop another pass and you may as well get off this field." That was more devastating than anything I just saw on this video.

Trojan_SF said:

Neuheisel is really going for the capillaries now.

I also heard that Coach Carroll sometimes doesn't hold the door open for people walking behind him.

It's all fair game in the recruiting wars!

I would refer Coach Rick to the documentary "Year of the Bull" about Miami Northwestern High School. In the film, a coach and a player get into a fist fight at PRACTICE. These are walk-on try outs. What should they do? Serve lemonade and cookies? Brendan comes off too cocky and a bit idiotic but this is harmless stuff.
I gues in politics and in CFB, when you are desperate you go NEGATIVE.

BigContinuous said:

Maybe we should start showing video's of Rick's U-Dub basketball pools to show recruits how much illegal gambling will be going on?

Maybe someone should send the article in the Seattle News to the. recruits Neuheisel is targeting

wait a second, not one of you thought the little brennan was behaving even remotely inappropriate?

i guess nobody ever accused trojan fans of being intelligent.

LAWYER JOHN said:

What's with ucla types always trying to be smarter than SC people? Why do they try so hard? What are they trying to prove? What is wrong with them?

Another facet about Brennan's actions was that he was panning for the camera. Maybe he would take back some of his behavior after he reviews the film.

Dohn Eats Nachos said:

Maybe he would and maybe he wouldn't but there is no denying that Brennan comes off looking like a complete douche.

Frankly, the most disturbing part is this isn't some bootleg production. It is an official suc approved video. I guess your athletic department didn't see anything wrong with Brennan's douchebaggery.

Btw, Lawyer John, we don't try to be smarter than suc people. We are smarter than suc people. Just like suc people are smarter than community college people. Well that might be a bad example. Lets try smarter than the offspring of first cousins. Yea, that is better.

Hey nachos, I bet if you saw brenan in person you'd be scared s**tless, and hide behind the internet like you are now. i guess if you can't beat us you can always resort to name calling to mask your inferiority complex, which i might add is a proud bruin tradition.

I can also understand why you infantile baby bruins feel a bit nauseas when you see a coach get up in a players face, i guess that's why you guys settle for mediocrity and national irrelevence, oh well.

Dohn Eats Nachos said:

Funny, "sharpie trojan" (talk about oxymoron), because daddy's little douche bag didn't have the balls to belittle the prospective walk-ons to their faces. He resorted to belittling these kids behind their backs.

Frankly, I don't care about the cursing. Although profanity laced language is not a characteristic of an intelligent and socially adept individual.

If you honestly believe that coaching is getting into a player's face and cursing, I don't know what to tell you.

Frankly, that video had nothing to do with coaching unless you believe that bouncing no look passes to a kid, that is trying to do his best, is "coaching".

That video was about little Brennan mugging it up for the camera and acting like a complete douche bag.

Way to go Brennan... talking sh*t about kids that would die to make the team. Awesome!

This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! Brennan Carroll totally rocks. What a frickin stud! He's got to be a total chick magnet on campus. It's especially really cool when he wears his visor upside down and backwards and shouts profanity. That gives him total street cred. Not to mention how articulate he is when he ends every sentence with "k?" SC should hire a whole bunch more guys just like him!

Lawyer John,

You're kidding...right? You call yourself "Lawyer John"...and make subtle reference to your communication with McKay while you were a player at SC...no wonder you don't understand the ego's of UCLA people...you're the same guy!!!
