Conference Of Champions
The SEC announced revenue figures today. The conference took in $50.6 million from football television, $25.3 million from bowls and $13.7 million from the SEC Football Championship game. And that doesn't include $11.6 million retained by the institutions participating in bowls.

$13.7 million real reasons why they have a SEC Football Championship Game.
Change of format due?
A championship game. Expand with two traditional teams that have ooc rivals, and new media markets such as Colorado and BYU, rather than taking in two conference teams in the same area or within PAC 10 country.
Split conference East West with one interdivision rival, one out conf rival. Rotate one or two cross division games.
Pick up some tomato cans to beat up to have winning seasons seven or eight teams deep.
Increase bowl tie ins, especially in the East coast and South. East Coast media market speaks for itself. Why the South? We have the Rose Bowl for the Midwest so we need to serve our fans, get people to get some travel and games vs. ACC teams with all their tie ins.
If this sounds like the ACC/SEC its b/c I stole it from them. Great biz model!
Love it, Timmay. Time to play the game a bit smarter and move forward with the Big-12. BYU and Colorado are perfect choices.
I would rather see any conference with over ten teams purge the weaker teams and play the round-robin schedule the Pac-10 currently uses. When ever team plays each other there's no room to have the woulda/coulda/shoulda debate.
And if it seems too harsh to flat out cut programs from a conference, the NCAA can adopt the Promotion and Relegation system used by so many of the professional sports leagues outside of North America.
