Heating Up?
With Rick Neuheisel pushing the USC walk-on tape to recruits because he think it reflects negatively on the program, I'm wondering what it will do to the (so far) cordial relationship between him and Pete Carroll.
Everyone negatively recruits against each other in college football, but this is a little firmer example than just some off-hand remark. Could it jeopardize the movement to get each team to wear their home uniforms?
I doubt it. Carroll and Neuheisel share one thing in common. They enjoy casting a genial public image, so no one is going to get outright hostile. Unless things get nastier.

I am from the school of thought that any publicity is good publicity. Neuheisel is unintentionally dong SC a favor, in my opinion.
By December, Pete will be as congenial with the Weasel of Westwood as he is with Mike Bellotti. BTW how soon do you think a Rick Neuheisel Golf Classic to Stop Global Warming/Save the Children will be held?
I'm sure a tape the ugly little bruins' "going over the wall" episode is being shown to USC recruits. Who would you rather play for, a team that discplines its players and wins, or a team that can't even keep its quarterbacks healthy in spring practice? Any recruit who takes football seriously would never choose UCLA over USC - unless he was afraid of a little competition. The ones who choose playing time are the same players who will be content to go to the Las Vegas Bowl every year and play in front of 18,000 people. The fearless ones will go to USC and compete for the National Championship every year.
Maybe Pete should show the gang tape in Westwood Village. More crime there than around USC.....look it up. Same for Cal.
B. Carroll's walk-on tryout video was an embarrassment to not only USC, but to coach P.C. himself. I am a CFB fan of both local teams(and root for both USC and UCLA when they play), who also grew up in Los Angeles but played/walked-on at Michigan back in the 80's. No decent coach would openly degrade, mock, or make fun of potential walk-ons/recruits in front of a camera knowing that it would be put onto a University approved website. Granted, Brandon Carroll is not the coach, but Pete is his father and this video should have never been put on the website. It comes across as arrogance,by both Pete, and the University and it has no place in amateur collegiate sports... Here's to hoping that both USC and UCLA can once again renew a competitive rivalry that has both the media and the(local and national)recruits paying attention for the right reasons.
No coach would openly degrade and mock walk-on's in front of a camera?
You might be shocked by the language and attitude of the coaches on the video but I guarantee you the players being recruited have heard and seen worse. There's nothing on that tape that a recruit hasn't experienced before...
I mean ESPN did a piece on Rick Rodriguez at Michigan where several players went on record as saying that he has a very foul mouth. It's the nature of the game.
If you think a walk-on half-assing it in a drill is gonna get a "You'll get 'em next time Tiger" or "Don't cry you'll catch the next pass" from the coaches at any univerity then you are seriously delusional.
Just because you never saw it online before doesn't mean it doesn't happen. This is being made into a bigger story than it is. Recruits could care less about having to take some f-bombs from a coach if they're winning bowl games and getting drafted into the league after 3-4 years. The USC program under PC does both.
You said that you root for both USC and UCLA when they play. What kind of two-toned bandwagon are you driving? Pick a side already. No true football fan loves Los Angeles that much as to root for both teams. Well none of them that aren't camera hogging celebs.
UCLA sucks!
His name is Brennan! Not Brandon. And I agree with Tyler, pick a team. You can't root for both. If you do that your not a true fan of anything moron!
