Hot Recruit

| | Comments (4) |

Which recruit caused a lot of buzz in May?
An SEC coach I spoke to mentioned one player: Andre Debose of Sanford, Fla. He is listed as a wide receiver but is being recruited as a tailback.
``He is a Joe McKnight-Reggie Bush combination back,'' said the coach.
USC is not listed among his college choices but a Florida source confirmed the Trojans are interested and visited his high school earlier this month.
Here's some video where he even lines up at quarterback:

Highlights do this kid well. We'll see how PC and the staff approach recruiting him (send Joe McKnight down to help sell him). Remember, PC lost Percy Harvin (lets not lose this kid). Fight On!

Those highlights don't put him anywhere in the league of Reggie Bush/ Joe McKnight and Percy Harvin. He is a great talent to be sure, explosive straight ahead speed. At 5'11 and 176 he was far bigger than everyone on the field for most of those highlights which says something about his competition. Highlights should wow more than that. It looked like he should be recruited by top 25 cfb teams, but not remotely worthy of some comparisons being made. Throwing around those comparisons too easily Scott.

I agree with timmay. He's no Sam McGuffie. The only special play I saw in that whole sequence was the botched reverse which he took up the middle and escaped. College players will match his size and speed. He catches the ball kinda like BMW and DJ did, like he has ball magnets in his hands. That's a plus.

The Trojans have done a pretty good job judging talent over the last few years more times than not, so if they're impressed by a recruit I'm going to go ahead and not question them.
