Mays Question

| | Comments (2) |

This question ties into a side issue that apparently upset someone inside Heritage Hall.
Q: Has Taylor Mays had the same off-season weight issues/concerns that were publicized last year?

A: This is something I've been meaning to mention this week. Taylor Mays was 6-3, 227 pounds when he was measured after spring practice. Last year, he weighed 232 pounds. So I think he's got his weight issue under control.
By the way, a USC official emailed me this week, unhappy that I provided accurate measurements for players instead of the ``official'' measurements on the rosters. I figured the readers would like to know the truth.

If Mays has been playing out of shape so far in his career than God help the opposing team's offense the day he does.

Mays isn't playing out of shape, the coaching staff just doesn't want him to balloon into a linebacker.
