Simmons Update
USC recruit Maurice Simmons plead not guilty to two felony-related charges and one misdemeanor during an arraignment hearing Thursday in Compton Superior Court.
Simmons, a linebacker from Dominguez High School in Compton, plead not guilty to second-degree robbery, assault with a firearm and permitting a loaded firearm in his vehicle. A pre-trial conference was set for June 24. A jury trial is set for July 24.
This likely means he will miss summer school although the trial could conceivably conclude before training camp in August.

Maurice wouldn't be healthy enough to play in camp or in this upcoming season anyway. So, let him take care of his problems for when he is healthy he is on team.
At a wrong place at a wrong time. It happen to me too.
Really? Gee, I've never accidently found myself committing an armed robbery.
Can we stop making excuses for the guy just because he is/was a USC recruit? If this was a ucla commit, you'd be all over it.
We're already getting some Miami stigma. The ucla board regularly posts all the arrests during the Carroll era - from Winston Justice (twice) and Hershel Dennis to Malaluga and Sanchez. And now we have the Mayo investigation to go with the Bush investigation. Weis was referring to us when he said he could get thugs and win right away. I don't want this guy and we have way too much depth to hold our nose and take him. Yeah, I know we had his brothers but they never caused problems.
No more rah-rah look-the-other-way crap!
