During former baseball coach Mike Gillespie's 20 years, USC missed the postseason five times. The Trojans are about to go 2 for 2 in missing the postseason under new coach Chad Kreuter.

Well, the five times we missed in his twenty years were too many. Gillespie was no hero. He left the program in the lurch nd it has been declining for years. Hiring his son-in-law was a lateral move in my opinion. Kreuter knows just as much about baseball as Gillespie. It is just a matter of whether he is cut out for College Baseball or not. I think he belongs in the minor leagues as a manager.

If Kreuter does not go after this season, then it is Garrett's turn to go!

Gillespie inherited a solid program. He just had to maintain it. He did a good job by most standards but only one NC (1998) in that period was not up to SC standards for baseball. The sharp decline after Savage left was really unacceptable. Kreuter, on the other hand, inherited a losing program and has to rebuild. We haven't even seen two full years yet, so I feel it's premature to call for his job. Another recruiting class, another year of the pitchers working with House, then we can make a more fair assessment.
