About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

That's a surprise, I would have thought CJ was the fastest. But, the big news was Taylor Mays' stats. Simply incredible athletic ability. If he can duplicate those stats at the combine or Pro Day in 10 months, he could make it into the top 10 of the draft. Assuming he comes out, of course.
I hope Gable's time is an anomaly and not his normal speed post-injury. I didn't know Bradford was that fast either.
And to continue the tangent, Mays is a beast. If he stays healthy and has a solid year, I wouldn't blame him for going pro.
4.68??
he won't even get drafted by the NFL..that's a ok time for a LB not a RB..
That doesn't surprise me at all about Stafon and Allen - especially with the way they were constantly mentioned throughout the spring. I imagine it is also indicator to their attitude toward working hard for the coveted No.1 spot on the depth chart.
As for CJ- I wonder if that's more of an anomaly or something else. But if that's how fast he really is, then he's one of those guys who seems to play faster with the pads on. Either way he's a talented runner.
Nothing lies like statistics. I would like to know how many times they ran the '40'-- was it only once or many times? A guy can have a bad heat. Or a guy may not be quick off the blocks, which can cost you .2 of a second in a short run such as the '40' is. Besides, pure track guys seldom make good football players; there is a lot of moxy that goes into being a successful running block other than pure speed i.e. I don't believe Barry Sanders was the fastest guy on his team, but he was all-world.
I heard Brennan Carroll started them off by saying "whistle".
Thanks 'dog,' that was my best laugh of the day.
By the way, I said 'running block' instead of running back, but I guess it works either way, in a way.
I think a lot of guys who maybe don't follow running that closely assume a guys is fast because he is thinner when that doesn't correlate at all. Used to be an assumption basically made even by coaches of other sports (and I am sure it is for some people.) I was surprised to see Stafon run a 4.4 odd, would have thought that he might be down to a 4.3- he was a 10.6 100m runner in high school and that 4.4 was his time coming in. Spicer ran a 4.6 best at 270lbs. Gable is shifty but not fast.
Someone mentioned Barry Sanders- he had one of the fastest times ever- 4.2. And if you go down the list of track guys who were not focused on professional track, it will read like a list of NFL players, so I'm not sure where that comes from. In modern day fb there are a lot of fast guys who don't make great football players but virtually no guys who are not fast and make great football players.
