Traffic Cones defense

| | Comments (4) |

The London Guardian summed up England's easy 2-0 victory over the USA this way: ``It's difficult to put into words just how feeble their opponents were. A set of traffic cones would have put up more resistance.''
This kind of reminds me of the Paul Hackett era, when I used to say a mannequin on the sideline would do less damage during games.

This is the problem with soccer, it is too difficult to score goals (why don't they widen/raise the net?) The US has a sorry team, and yet only loses 2-0. If this had been a football game where the team was so overmatched, the score would have been something like 52-7.

I'm not really bothered with the scoreboard not reflecting how much a relatively weak English team dominated the best the United States has to offer (minus Donovan).

What does kind of bother me is Wolf bringing back the name of the coach who's name should not be spoken.

The only thing more remarkable than how bad Hackett was is how Mike Garrett hired the worst coach in USC Football history, as well as, arguably, the best.
