Another Celtics Connection
Former USC forward Brian Scalabrine is back in the NBA Finals with the Boston Celtics. He previously made the finals with the New Jersey Nets.
I remember him shaving his red hair during latter part of the 2001 Elite Eight season. ``Coach Bibby asked each of us to give something up,'' Scalabrine said.
And what did Bibby give up? ``Nothing,'' Scalabrine said.
Scalabrine was always a good-natured guy at USC, and used to joke about his pro prospects:``Forty thousand dollars in Greece will go a really long way."

I also recall some quotes about him saying the USC fans and crowds pretty much funtioned like a vacuum cleaner does during his Trojan basketball career.
Scalabrine was an awesome kid and a very good, versatile player. Congrats to him for being one of SC's greatest NBA success stories, along with Robert Pack. Kind of strange how the guys I thought would be superstars never panned out, and a few guys that I didn't expect to last in the league really overachieved. Hard work with a little bit of luck? Obviously, we thought Harold would be a star. But, remembering Scalibrine makes me recall another guy who I thought was a sure thing 10 yr NBA player....Big Sam Clancy. I know he had a 1st year knee injury, but I wonder what ever happened to Big Sam? He was a man among boys in college.
I had to look him up, apparently Sam in playing in France
