Q: Now that you've given in to pressure from the USC athletic department, where they are dictating what you can and cannot write about on your blog, will you be joining forces with Ben Malcomson to write useless fluff pieces that lack any substance and information? Is news and objectivity now a thing of the past on this blog?
A: I'm considering a co-partnership with pete carroll's blog, where I can get into a suck-up competition to please the athletic dept. I might even do my own walk-on video. News and objectivity will be determined at a later date.
Q: I see where PC is upset because he can't contact recruits personally in May like in days of yesteryear--says he works harder than other coaches, misses the contacts etc. and etc.
However, the rule is the same for everyone, and my guess is that this will make little or no difference in recruiting. What's your take on this?
A: It makes it harder for evaluation purposes because the head coach needs to rely on his coaching staff more. It also reduces his visibility. But ultimately, recruits do not choose USC because of Pete Carroll visiting their high school in May.

Personally, I like the ripsit blog. Not only is Ben a Daily Trojan alumnus, but also a former football player. What a dream job to start out a career. Of course, he has limits on what he can do, but he also has ACCESS to the inside scene. Actually, the best access out there, and he is always looking for creative ways to provide his readers with a behind the scenes view. This blog is a must read for diehard football fans.

DFWTrojan is spot on - ripping on Ben here is petty. He's NOT a local beat reporter assigned to cover a school on behalf of a newspaper/organization. He's running a blog that is meant to provide USC fans with more access from a USC-centric point of view. It's not meant to be "objective journalism". Duh.
