Million Dollar Man
News item: Alabama head coach Nick Saban and his wife Terry have pledged $1 million to the university for scholarships. The Saban scholarships are designed specifically for first-generation college students.
Reaction: Is this another way to exceed to the 25-scholarship limit from the coach who brought about the Saban Rule that prevented Caesar from going on the road in May?

I see you Tax deduction.
Surely there is something wrong with a coach buying recruits out of pocket through a scam scholarship, then using the recruit to meet performance bonuses in his employment contract? Perhaps not in the SEC.
Colleges have been using that trick for aeons. Load up non scholie athletes with great aid packages, which is easier to do at public schools. USC seems a little too goody two shoes in that area, despite being one of the few schools that guarantee to meet demonstrated need (financial aid- term yuck!). There are always stories on them internets about some SC student athlete without a scholie who is paying a lot of dough to attend. At USC they get a great education; so either way, you get what you pay for.
I'm with DFWT on this. Perhaps the commissioners of the SEC are over looking this gracious and wonderful "jester (instead of gesture)" by Hi & Bye Sabin. However, $1 million dollars out of his $4 million dollar year paycheck(?). So that makes me think that if he is giving away $1 million dollars, then you know that he is receiving addition money from somewhere else. Wow, I give away money to help new "students" (wink, wink), and I don't lose any money. I guess that's what happen when you let "Forrest Gump" in to your school. Mama always said, "life is like a scam, you know that can get away with it in the SEC" Fight On!
