So Much For That Sweep
I had to ask David Beckham today about his prediction from last week that the Lakers would sweep the Celtics.
``I do believe they've got a chance. It's going to be tough for the Lakers,'' he said. ``The Celtics are a good team, have a lot of aggression. But I'm a Lakers fan.''

This is how the Lakers could still pull it off.
They will be favored to win Game 5 at home, so let's assume they follow the script.
They have only been about 3 point underdogs in Boston, every game has been closely contested, and let's say they shoot well and win Game-6.
Game-7 will then be nervous time, and the Celtics have never been there before. So who knows.
Yes, yes, I know in 28 Finals situations no team has ever overcome a 3-1 disadvantage. But recall Navy beat Notre Dame last year after losing 44 (yes, 44) games in a row. So stuff does happen.
Breaking it down into percentages, if the games are 50-50, which this series seems to be, game by game, then the Lakers have 1 chance in 8 of winning it all. Not the best odds, but certainly not lottery odds. And if they win Game-5 the odds become more like 1 in 4, or 1 in 5. Soi it is not out of the question.
Of course, this analysis begs the question of whether the Lakers deserve the championship. This writer believes the Celtics have a legitimate argument at being the best team. But so does the Lake.
We shall see.
Of course, as a college football fan and a Trojan fan, I don't much care about professional football, but I sympathize for so many of my friends who love the professional game that the best professional "football" player we have in LA is a washed up over-tatted bleach blonde who could be a voice double for Michael Jackson and whose wife is famous for having a horribly fake rack.
Being a resident of LA, I unfortunately hope that the Lakers lose on Sunday just because of the HUGE letdown in game 4. Besides the USC-Texas Rose Bowl back in 2006, game 4 was one of the most crushing defeats I have EVER witnessed! I am still angry about the game!
No comparison, there is no Vince Young on the Celtics squad. The Lakers just pissed it away. Except for Kobe they're are a bunch of softies and dimwits. That goes double for that jumpie chucking Bruin idiot Farmar. If they lose on Sunday, at least the Southie trash won't be here to watch it happen. In Boston some "things" never change, and these weenie Lakers don't want to go back there.
Lawyer John, I love you man but the Lakers are toast. Give it up. 87 days til football.
Fight On!
