The Saga Continues

It looks like the Song Girls issue continues to dominate the Open Forum and Petros Papadakis passes along his own story: He was verbally chastised during a basketball for by song girls advisor Lori Nelson for complimenting the Trojan Dance Force. Can't we all just get along?

"He was verbally chastised during a basketball for by song girls advisor..."

Really?? Come on now.

Lori Nelson is actually the coach of the Song Girls, not the advisor. The advisor is a completely different, yet equally useless, woman.

That is the first time I've ever laughed out loud at a comment on this forum, and I'm a long time reader. Well done.

Petros is better looking than most of the song girls anyway! Lori is just mad he can't be on the team.

Anyone remember the old Little Rascals comedies where the scrawny little brat would talk a bunch of trash then run and hide behind the big bully?

Change the brat from scrawny to fat and dumpy and it's a lot like how Wolf is hiding behind Petros in this thread.

Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy...

What does Scott write about all the time? The Song Girls.

Are the Song Girls newsworthy? They must be, Scott writes about them all the time.

So what came first, the chicken or the egg? In this case, Scott produced them both.

sureshot, if you check the archives, this whole thing was brought on by one reader's comment and his question regarding the expansion of the squad from 12 to 14 current members. That question brought on multiple comments about many readers' displeasure about the horrendous state of the Song Girls.

Obviously, it hit a nerve as this discontent (as I've suspected for a long time now) has been practically universal. Scott's blog is merely a forum for many of us to express our anger and frustration.

Scott's posts regarding the squad is a reflection of the interest.

So in response to your post, I believe the unattractiveness of the squad came first. AND THEN the anger.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
