Answer Monday, Part 2
Linebacker questions are asked here!
Q: This spring I was overseas and then came back for immediate back surgery. In that time, it appears that something caused this song girl issue. Can briefly tell me what happened?
A: The readers began asking began giving their opinions and asking questions about it and it seemed to get more and more popular as a topic. Whether or not I agree, it's clear the readers are passionate about this subject. Perhaps they became more resolved to discuss this after the athletic dept. expressed their desire for me to silence the readers on this topic.
Q: With the depth and quality at the LB spot this season, how would you rank this group of LB's versus previous LB crews. Fight On!
A: I've said it before but I do not think this year's LB's are inferior to last year. I think Kaluka Maiava will be able to fill Keith Rivers spot. Yes, Rivers was a top 10 draft pick, but I hardly saw him as irreplaceable and he experienced some quiet games. Maiava more than filled for him against Arizona State, UCLA and the Rose Bowl, including that big forced fumble against Illinois that prevented a touchdown.
As for past units, I will not buy into hype and say this group is better than, say, the Riki Gray-Chip Banks era. At least going into this season. I want to see a little more performance and less pre-season magazine covers.
Q: How is Chris Gallippo progressing at this point? I know I have asked about him from an earlier forum, but I just wanted to be updated.
A: He consistently says his back feels much better and is not an issue at the moment. There is some soreness once in awhile, but nothing that is not considered nornal. If this is true, he will be able to get some game experience and be groomed to start for the next three seasons after Rey Maualuga departs.
Could it be that Troy Thomas overused him as a two-way player his senior year in high school to cause all the problems in the first place?

Well, Scott isn't being 100% honest re the blow up on the Song Girls issue and its origins.
It started when a poster stated that one of the advisers to the SG's had a child out of wedlock with a USC bball coach and wasn't this a terrible role model for the girls and how this would explain the drop in quality. Justifiably so, Scott took some heat for this in agreeing with the poster and not deleting it from his blog immediately. HE waited awhile and after HH complained, he deleted the post.
Scott spun it and claimed that HH didnt want to hear any negativity toward the SG's. Several frustrated men then took personal shots at the SG's for the generally accepted belief that the quality of the SG's has deteriorated. I posted that the best SG I could recall was Tricia Pillsbury. Someone posted a pic. All hell broke loose. There ya go.
SW, how do you manage to throw Troy Thomas a High School Football coach, under the bus like that. I swear SW, you need your @$$ whopped! SW you keep putting people in a negative light like you're doing here, and you're going to end up in the Hospital. I don't know if you really realize it but you're playing with peoples' careers making statements like that.
WHY mix the annoying song girl subject with the linebacker as exclusively predisposed on this thread?
Thank you
I heard that Chris Gallippo hurt his back again and had another surgery. Scott can you find out if is this true?
I am baffled that people would blame SW for the atrocious state of the Song Girls. I mean one look at the squad and you can see why there's so much outrage and madness about how this institution has been dragged on its knees and into its slow death. Everyone giving SW grief over the Song Girl issue must be from the athletic dept. Just ignore the Song Girl issue if you could care less about it. It ain't that hard. But the majority thinks the squad is just so horrible now and we want change.
