Answer Tuesday!
Or maybe we'll call this ``How many questions can I answer on the Song Girls?''
Q: Who cares if you are Public Enemy No. 1 to the advisors to the Song Girls? They are the lowest rung of the ladder at USC. The official title of the coach is "administrative assistant." Look it up. They have no power, no influence (outside of influencing the Song Girl selection process, of course), no respect from anyone, make practically no money, and they are both single mothers with questionable values and agendas. If they are getting upset that their unethical activities are being exposed, then you are clearly doing a good job. For far too long, they went publicly unquestioned, even though though there were many whispers about them privately, and they have just been too comfortable in their jobs without any fear of accountability. Let's keep this up, exposing them at every opportunity, and a change will come. If you cave in, where's the freedom of the press?
A: Many of these questions don't require much of an answer because they more than answer themselves. That said, the response to the Song Girl feature by Celeste Fremon has been overwhelmingly positive, so I think the this subject is clearly moving the readers.
Q: Has it ever occurred to the people on the selection committee of the Song Girls that if they were actually doing their jobs that they are paid to do, then Trojans -- whether they are alumni or students -- would not be so interested in the Oregon cheerleaders, who are obviously now the gold standard of all American cheerleaders? It seems like these people are not even attempting to address the real problem here and and are desperately trying to blame everything but the people in the mirror for the mess they themselves created.
A: Tryouts could really be interesting this year. I was struck last week by a freshman orientation rally where the students were told they could be a song girl if they wanted to. Do these freshman know what they might be getting into?
Q: Could you put a "Bring Back Tricia Pillsbury to USC" logo on the header of your blog and get this public campaign started?
A: This might be one of the best suggestions ever.
Why not start a bring back Charles White or a bring back Marcus Allen campaign? It is just as ridiculous as your Pillsbury thing. Who cares about some damn cheerleaders? Song girls, whatever... Why don't you talk about the too tall and european volleyball team, or how our quarterbacks aren't as cute as when Rodney Peete was here? Leave this song girl stuff for the girls. Let Pillsbury come back and clean it up or something. Or just go get some bleach and make them all blonde and then you guys will be happy. There, song girl issue solved. Fight on.
