Memphis was the only NBA team in the lottery that did not contact USC regarding O.J. Mayo. Perhaps the fact GM Chris Wallace is from West Virginia, like Mayo, was enough to seal the deal.
Then again, considering Wallace made the worst trade of the year when he sent Pau Gasol to the Lakers, maybe it says something else about him.
