If memory serves Pat O'Hara was the heir apparent of Rodney Peete in 1989, and with that loaded team many thought they would win the national championship. But Pat broke his leg the week before the season opener, and some kid named Marinovich, a self-absorbed dope smoking fiend, took over. Marinovich had his moments, but he lost at Notre Dame (in a great game which I personally witnessed in the midwest cold, 28-24) and that was that as far as national championships was concerned. We have often wondered what would have happened with those great players in 1989 and still in 1990 if Pat had not gotten hurt.
