Spotight Question
I don't really have an answer but the comments are fascinating.

Scott, not sure you have the ability to check this out or not, but someone I know who has family associated with the Song Girls, and who is thrilled with what you're doing here, tells me that the tall blonde who was caught cheering for Texas (Nelson?) was actually allowed to remain on the squad after she graduated from USC, thereby breaking an established rule which all other Song Girls had to abide by, due to the fact that she was the coach's daughter. Not that I care that much, but that seems like a blatant slap in the face to some of the girls who were eligible to try out for the squad but didn't make it due to one less spot being open.

It is even more sordid than that. Her daughter's high school friend joined the squad as a senior, became the captain within a few months over girls who had been on the squad for much longer, then was allowed to stay on the squad as a fifth year senior, despite the fact that went against the Song Girls' own policies.
The issues with the coach's daughter are accurate. She was also made a captain within a few months over girls who were entering their third year on the squad.
There are so many more stories of nepotism I can tell you regarding the coach of the Song Girls, your jaw would drop.

That's hilarious. Good stuff by all.
The Song Girls official policy states:
"Shall carry and complete an academic workload of at least 12 units each semester thereafter, if selected as a squad member."
http://sait.usc.edu/recsports/spirit/song/about/tryouts.html
Natalie Nelson was carrying less than the required 12 units in the Fall 2006 when she was the captain of the squad.
Wolf reported a while back that she was engaged to Ryan Kalil.
Maybe the Song Girl policy changes when you're dating an All-American.
Is there an applicable "ism" for that?
How dare you all expose these shenanigans! It doesn't matter whether they're current students or not, Song Girls are chosen because they are good ambassadors for the university. They have class. And they are a source of pride for representing the school.

So who cares if corruption and nepotism exist within the squad. As long as we have great classy girls to represent the Song Girls, then that's all that matters.
The athletic dept. should agree with me on this.
This one has a hilarious commentary about the Song Girls, too:

This thing is blowing up nationally (no pun intended).
These links are awesome. It seems like the Song Girls are going out of their way to make sure they ruin the reputation and name of the squad. I doubt anyone can consider them to be all that wholesome and classy anymore. Pictures don't lie. But they do make me laugh!
Even a Miami radio station is covering the latest Song Girls Gone Wild scandal!

I am cracking up today. In the past, we could always count on our football players to embarrass us, but now it looks like the Song Girls are also getting in on the action!
This Sarah Carmona is the anti-Tricia Pillsbury.
Could this blonde be the fugliest Song Girl in the history of USC? Yikes!!!
http://www.ebsports.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2004songgirls1.jpg
The blonde is not that great but the brunette on the far right looks like some man you would see walking down the street in Brooklyn. And we ALL know about the brunette in the middle!
The ugliest Song Girl in history was on the 2004 squad. An absolute monster. No reason to name her or post her picture but I am sure you can all go to the Song Girls website and look up her picture. It's not too difficult to figure out which one she is.
You see, buxom women have a reputation for being very bubbly and outgoing. If they don't have good looks on their side, personality is all they have. And from what I can tell, Ms Carmona clearly has a lot of personality. She is clearly a heavier set lady and she's obviously very outgoing since she's making out with two different women in those pictures.
Larger set women are people too. Bless her heart!
Free Lendale:
I would not describe that blonde as the ugliest Song Girl in the history of USC. She may not be attractive but the brunette in the middle of that picture is less attractive than the blonde. Overall, this decade has been a complete wasteland as far as the Song Girls have been concerned.
And here's to you, Ms Pillsbury...
Lindsey on 29th, your Trojan family is indebted to you for your valuable contribution to this story. Please do share more stories. The alumni deserve to hear every last sordid detail. Thanks and fight on! If svengali TrojaninDC didn't say that there was a lower point in the program than the blonde on the far left, I wouldn't have believed it. I took a quick look at 2004 and am still dry heaving.
Whoa, Nellie!!!! We have a winner!!! I just checked out that 2004 page. I don't know whether to thank TrojaninDC for pointing that out to me or be pissed. My kids have nightmares about things like that being underneath their beds. Now I won't be able to look them in the eye and tell them that there are no such things as monsters.
Jeez, any of those chicks on that squad could jump out my closet and give me a heart attack.
Ahh, 2004. That was perhaps one of the worst squads in the history of the Song Girls. And for those who would like to see more blondes on the squad, that year was mostly blonde but clearly, none of them had "The Look". It doesn't matter whether the girls are blonde, brunette, redhead, whatever...the people in charge of the Song Girls are clearly just not competent in choosing attractive girls PERIOD.
It's all about who you know and connections.
This Song Girl Gate issue has exploded from the simple desire to have more attractive representatives on the squad to current and former Song Girls embarrassing the university with their salacious behavior.
And although I would say Natalie Nelson is quite a looker in the uniform, the allegations of nepotism surrounding her stint on the squad and her high school friend's captaincy is disturbing. All those negative things other PAC-10 schools say about USC are turning out to be true.
This is pathetic.
