Not USC's but Oregon State's nonconference slate. The Beavers go to Penn State and Utah (ask UCLA about that) and host Hawaii in their lone home game.

At Penn State and Utah, sure, but Hawaii at home? No June Jones and no Cole Brennan means no problem.

Well, how tough Hawai'i will be is arguable, they have a history of being a wild card
But the departure of June Jones happened after the game was arranged so I respect Oregon State for setting it.

Oregon State had a great team last year at every position except quarterback. Unfortunately for them, their great team graduated en masse, so it's looking like OS is going to have a few more losses this coming year. Too bad. They're an underdog that's easy to root for.

That's actually a great OOC schedule (almost one that's too tough) - OOC schedules should be challenging but not ridiculously so.
I'm not condoning 1AA schools being scheduled butif your idea of a tough OOC schedule is playing three top-25 teams you're deluding yourself. Firstly it's impossible to get more than one ranked team in your OOC schedule. (Hell there's only 25 of them). Secondly that would just be insane. You've gotta have at least one cupcake in there somewhere. No school will schedule that insanely - that's just asking for trouble.
All I would like to see is the SEC teams drop the 1AA schools (I'd like to see a rule that stipulates you can only play a 1AA school OOC once every 4-5 years. That way we can still get the occasional Appy St - Michigan upset but don't have to wade through 50 other terrible games every year to get it) and start scheduling at least one middle of the pack team from BCS conferences home and home.
Play Arizona, Utah, Purdue, OK St. Get on a plane for chrissakes. You take buses to every other game...play out of your timezone and see what that's like.
