TV Tip
An alert reader points out that Comcast SportsNet in Portland televises a show titled, ``Cheerleaders of Oregon.'' Perhaps an Oregon reader can fill in some details.
Here's the link to the TV schedule: http://northwest.comcastsportsnet.com/tv_listings.aspx

I read the description of the show and it's about the tryout process for the next group of Oregon cheerleaders.
GREATEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!
Thank God for Direct TV's sports package!
The show is nothing groundbreaking, at most boring, unless you are a father of daughters who has a keen interest in keeping beyond 100 yds anyone, who has an opposite and competing interest.
Note: I am not a father of daughters.
Of particular interest: The cheerleaders' coach has a daughter who has "been dancing since she was 3 yrs old", and loves it because she has done it her entire life. Coach's daughter is the, wait for it........... asst. coach (sound familiar). She also "tried out to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader", according to her credentials on the crawler (guessing her dream came to quick end, although she sports a decent mid-thirty's fake rack).
Fast forward.....the tryouts show us cute, shapely teens with tight abs. The asst coach repeats the same line (at least 3x in thirty min) on what would qualify as acceptable Duck cheerleading standards, because she "knows standards" since she has consulted with many high schools across the nation.
In short, like most reality shows ,its ridiculous. But,its transparently ridiculous.......in all its splendor. And transparency is the issue at song girl central right now, ....if I've been paying attention.
They (Oregon cheer)are attractive, and fit, no doubt,.... but perspective is always important.
Scottie, I think you provide quite enough pictures of the oregon cheerleaders for me to know I don't need to watch a show about their lives...
Because as attractive as they may be, i think you know where i'm going with this.
Since I personally know the Coaching staff I can say that the Assistant Coach was Blazer Dancer. Who cares about the Cowboys.
Also the comment about their lives... They are full time students with excellent GPA's. All will graduate with great degrees. Some work part time coaching at other places. The do community service continuously year around.
The Program at UO is a great one. I am glad they are showing High School girls what hard work it takes to get to the next level and what they need to have as far as skills, *( Stunters) Tumbling, toss hands, scorp-stretch etc.. *(Men) Tumbling and the skills and strength to do the required stunts. And yes a healthy weight for women 120. You try holding up someone who weighs more for a entire game...
*(Dancers) Technical dance experience, tumbling preferred but not required. No weight requirement just looking and being FIT~
This program is wonderful and an excellent experience.
But what they didn't say on the show that the Athletic department cut their funds, training, Coaches office, competition privilege. They are no longer a part of Athletics since they adding the All Girl Stunt & Gymnastics.*( which I am for but not at the expense of losing this great program)
Very sad, The Original Oregon Cheer will suffer now, Lose tryout candidates and will lose it's Celebrity in our State.
They should have left it alone,
IF IT'S NOT BROKE ...DON'T FIX IT !
