Versus Conference
Whatever you think of USC, the Trojans should win another Pac-10 title just because the rest of the conference is worse than a year ago, with the possible exception of Washington.
Let's take a quick look:
Oregon -- worse
Cal -- worse (improved team chemistry might make them better)
Oregon State (worse)
Stanford (just as bad)
Arizona (just as bad)
Arizona State (same)
Washington (better)
UCLA (same or worse)
Washington State (worse)
This does not mean USC will not a lose any Pac-10 games, but this is not a daunting lineup of opponents by any measure.

Well, Congratulations Scott.
I never thought I'd see the day when you actually came out with a post that combined extensive research, poignant articulation, and flawless logic. I think I saw it just now.
Well done, Scott, well done.
SAE, LOL! Exactly. He can't be constantly doing all that research and sports journalism. Instead he delivers the lines that he feels are always appropriate:
"USC football has a bunch of secret problems that only I know about. I predict that they may or may not win a championship and may lose one or two PAC 10 games. If they lose a game or two in the PAC 10 it can have nothing to do with the PAC 10 players or coaches since I believe the PAC 10 is the worst conference. It can only mean that Emperor Pete and USC football are overrated. And USC song girls should kill themselves because no less than perfect girls cheer at any other school." -Scott Wolf
I couldn't agree more SAETrojan.
Scott, how did you determine that every single team in the Pac-10 got worse this offseason? As SAETrojan pointed out, I would love to see some evidence or at least a shred of something resembling a reasonable argument backing up your claims. Did all the coaches in the Pac-10, not Versus, conference concede to their fan bases, university presidents, coaching staffs, etc. that they were going to promptly plummet into mediocrity this year before the season even began? If this is the case, bravo Scott, bravo.
Oh, and let's not give any credit to the teams in our conference, who year in and year out provide us with quality competition. I'd love to gaze into your crystal ball that's showing you the decline of the Pac-10.
Maybe they should just hand us the trophy now.
Notice how he sets it up...First, just in case SC runs the table and wins the Pac-10, well they are supposed to because the Pac-10 has just a bunch of weak teams, worse than last year....bunch of nothing teams...
It has nothing to do with SC being good, just the Pac-10 is sooooo weak and pathetic....
It's so easy to win 6 (going on 7) Pac-10 titles in a row.. It's been done many times before... what? it's never been done before?.. never mind....
but gosh darn, Pete Carroll is just so lucky lucky lucky, he came here when every other team in the Pac-10 has been down for the last 7 years.. how lucky is THAT???!!
"I ain't no stinkin' lackey for no athletic dept."
With 3 losses next season, this discussion will not matter - this upcoming season is the season that divides the men from the boys, and we will not be counted among the men!
SEC and Georgia fans are all worried about the game against the Sun Devils.
UGLY has had two good recruiting classes in a row but you consider them worse? The were a senior dominated team last year that could not win against the worst Notre Dame team ever, but they are worse? They have the best OC in College football, but they are worse?
Harbaugh is going to be just as bad as last year? They beat USC! He will have them better this year.
Arizona will be playing to save Stoops job, they will be better.
Oregon St. has great players coming back and always do better than expected with Riley.
SW, you listen to Beano too much and have bought into the East Coast bias. The best football players come out of California and load up the Pac 10 schools with deep talented rosters. IMO
