About The Quarterbacks
So where do things stand with Aaron Corp and Mitch Mustain? First, it's entirely possible Mark Sanchez will start against Virginia.
But let's look at Corp and Mustain. So far, there is not a clear-cut favorite. So I will list some factors for each to give you a detailed look at the competition.
Mustain has a better arm, is a traditional pro-style quarterback and has that extra year of experience.
Corp is more dynamic, can roll out or scramble and comfortable with the short-to-intermediate type passes. He is also more talkative in the huddle than Mustain, who is more soft-spoken.
At the end of the day, Corp might have more upside but Mustain might be more polished. But they are essentially even. And the team is indifferent over who should start.

I like it. Nice to have two very good back-ups, and if one falters, then SC can use the other.
Yeah, Mustain has a little more game experience. Little more arm strength. All Corp has to do is buy a chuck norris endorsed total gym, and play a few games, and with all his upside, he'll be completely better than Mustain in no time. I think the fact that this younger guy is more vocal in the huddle than the "more experienced" guy speaks volumes of how much better he is.

To be honest, I too am rooting for Corp because it would be so exciting to have a running threat at quarterback. SC only had one, Rodney Peete, and boy was he electrifying.
But to say that one quarterback is better than another because he is more vocal in the huddle reminds me of a John McKay quip. When asked what place emotion has in football McKay said, "Well, my wife is very emotional and she is a horrible football player."
"... it's entirely possession ..." Scott, did you receive your degree in journalism from UCLA?
LJ:
¡Hi little "bro"! I remember listening to that quote when I was watching The History Of USC FB DVD. McKay also said that he was asked if he was afraid someone would catch him-OJ Simpson. McKay replied: "the only one that can catch him is on our team and that is Earl McCullough".

Yeah, sep2010, being vocal in the huddle "speaks volumes of how much better he is" as a quarterback. It somehow proves he makes better reads, has better accuracy, has better timing, is better in the pocket, better poise. What an idiot you are. Thank goodness you never went to USC or else I would need to send a letter to Steve Sample demanding your diploma be revoked.
Great post Scott, thanks!
So the Prince of Pedantry, TrojanAnnenberg2001, is back, charmingly referring to fellow posters here on the psycho ward, otherwise known as "Inside USC with Scott Wolf," as "idiots."
I'm shocked and dismayed, you angry little twerp, that you couldn't manage a semi-colon in this most recent post. You'll have to work on that; one per post, at the absolute minimum.
By all means, based on his performance at Howard Jones Field over the last two-and-a-half weeks, why don't you break down for us how Mitch Mustain is the best man for the job? God bless him -- and I mean that, sincerely, because I wish him nothing but the best -- but the guy has been struggling.
So, please, commence. How, based on the criteria you present, has Mustain proved himself the number one quarterback?
I'll start you off: Mustain has got absolutely beautiful footwork. Looks like a dancer out there on his drops. But he's throwing too many picks, and he hesitates too much. The system is not yet second nature to him. As it happens to be to Mark Sanchez.
Oh, and I'm absolutely certain that a letter from the likes of you would instantly garner miracles, with a desired response from Sample.

Amen! Let's be objective. The LA Media sources: usc.freedomblogging.com, latimes.com and even SW ALL have reported Mustain's QBing. struggles. Three sources that agree on the same point...
