The Donkey says Congratulations Aaron!
...no real surprise here.
Hey Wolf,
Looks like your "man crush" is not cutting it like you thought. I guess the future of "Mitch & Me" is going down the tubes pretty fast. I could care less if he was the high school player of the year. Take into consideration the level of play that Mitch went up against at the high school level in Arkansas of all places!!! You can't compare it when you have Corp going up against the cream of the crop high school talent like your Long Beach Poly's, your Servite's, your Mater Dei's, etc... I hope that you are FINALLY getting a clue and stop putting this guy on a freaking pedestal!!!
Amen brother LordTrojan!
If Mitch stays mired at the #3 spot this season do you expect him to transfer to a 1-AA school to get some playing time?
Mitch thought he can go up to the hottest girl in campus and ask her to the prom, well he just got rejected and will probably have to settle for the fat chick cause CORP got her digits! How you like them apples.
I expect Mitch to transfer or focusing on becoming a college coach someday. Something like that :)
Why so critical of Mitch? Congrats to Corp on being named the backup for week #1 but I don't understand why us SC fans feel we always have to rip one of our quarterbacks.
I think people are just rubbing it in on SW and not so much on MOostain Mitch.
Orange County continues to own the USC Quarterback spot. LA County where you at? South Bay? Westside?
SF Valley? I guess boys growing up in LA are more focused on being reality TV stars, longshoremen, or porn actors.
Carson-Matt-NonOC-Mark-Aaron-Matt II
Looks like if Sanchez does falter, The Air Corp will come to the rescue now...
PLLH55: Thanks for your comment. It is beyond me why anyone would rip Mitch because he didn't get the number two spot. He's worked hard and done the best he can do. Give the young man some "atta boy's" for his hard work and dedication. He is an amateur athlete not some oh so spoiled professional.
Yes, I am happy for Aaron.
It is going to get real interesting next year when Barkley shows up.
First of all, I'd like say that I have absolutely nothing against Mitch Mustain, and I'd like to see him do well. That being said, I can understand some of the responses to this news. If you go back a few months and look at the comments on this blog, Mark Sanchez was being vilified many of the posters.
People were calling him "Dirty Sanchez" and "Date Rapist" and saying that Mitch Mustain was cleaning the floor with him in the QB competition. I must have read, "By all accounts Mustain is the most gentlemanly student alive and never makes the idiotic mistakes that the loser Dirty Sanchez makes in practice." (Or something to that effect)
I must admit that it feels good, as one of Sanchez's backers from day 1, to see him firmly entrenched as the number one QB. I'm not sure how the news tastes to the Mustain lovers out there, but I don't think crow is all that delicious.
I honestly think that the best move for Mitch would be to transfer to Tulsa to be reunited with Gus Malzhan. He turned what was a seemingly ordinary QB in Paul Smith into a statistical machine (doubled his passing yards and tripled his touchdown passes) and I'm sure he could do the same for his former protoge.
But I do hope it turns out well for all parties including Sanchez, Corp, Mustain, and of course, USC.
Fight on!
Uh, for those of you who are hailing this news, are you actually aware that Corp is also as Caucasian as Mustain? What are you going to blame it on when Sanchez falters and Corp takes over? Or what about if Mustain goes ahead of Corp in Week 2? Sanchez was having problems with interceptions in the three days of fall camp before he got injured and he's had numerous interceptions every day since coming back. I know, I've been there. The same issues he's always had, he still has.
The way Sanchez has been playing, I would not be surprised if a QB change is made during the season and guess what? All the other QBs are Caucasian! Corp, Mustain and Green. Will the accusations of racism come out when Sanchez is benched?
So all of you who seem to claim you have no agenda, when you clearly have a very strong one, think before you commit to a comment that could backfire on you in the very near future.
Brentwood: are you high?
Where did you read anything about race??? I looked and looked and looked through the comments on this post and I didn't see anything that pertained to race.
Seriously. This doesn't have anything to do with race. I think everyone on this board is fully aware that the other 3 QBs on the roster and the prized recruit Barkley are all white. But I don't see what that has to do with the price of tea in China.
sureshot: I think you may be the one who is high here.
How does this news possibly prove that Sanchez is not a rapist? Oh, that's right, it does not. So I don't see what that has to do with the price of tea in China.
This just in off the wire:
Noted book publisher Random House cancels agreement to distribute "Mitch and Me" stateside citing lack of public interest.
Industry sources state that the writer has turned his attention (and biting wit) to a new project tentatively titled: "EPL: An American Perspective on the Inner Workings of the Greatest Soccer League in the World".
Initial sales projections for the new book are not promising. The writer of "Mitch and Me" could not be reached for comment.
Oh and you guys are all racists.
The Donkey believes Brentwood Trojan and Pardee 5th floor are the same person (same writing style).
The Don Key believes all QBs should stay put and be ready for the long season. The Donkey remembers QBs who left to unlv and missed their chance at stardom.
Hey Tyler,
You're hilarious dude! I guess Wolf's wet dreams of having Oprah's the book of the month are shattered. Boo F***ing Hoo!!
So where are all the "Mustain will start next year, I guarantee it" posters that were here that bad mouthed Sanchez? Where did they go? Now that Mustain is #3, can we get an "Oops, I was wrong. Sorry I badmouthed Sanchez."
I hope Mitch does well, I just got tired of all the idiotic Mitch supporters from last Spring.
Corp definitely deserves the spot. However, if I'm the coaching staff and the two are even, I go with Corp as well: he's less likely to transfer now (note that Barkley is coming next year, and I'm sure that Corp knows he'll command similar deference as does Joe McKnight). Mustain is essentially stuck unless he wants to go a 1-AA school. That said, I'm sure the #2 spot will be fluid throughout the year and this will be great to watch unfold.
Nevertheless, I can't think of any program with this much depth at QB. Just sick.
Then I guess the donkey has a fitting name by being laughably wrong and a clueless ass!
Mustain has become an insurance policy for USC.
I don't see him sniffing #1 the rest of his career with the Trojans, barring a rash of injuries.
Anything can happen, look what happened across town last year.
TrojanBob, my thoughts exactly. There were too many to count, though I remember a poster named Summer whose M.O. was to copy and paste Mustain has been brought in to start "for reasons that will become apparent."
Apparently not.
Anyone who went to a practice and saw Mustain throw is not surprised by this announcement. Corp didn't look that much better, but he showed he can scramble.
I will light a candle before my flight to Virginia for Sanchez's kneecap to remain on straight. My God doesn't mind when I put USC football ahead of starving children in my prayers.
I feel like we're losing focus on the real issue here, Song Girls.
Once more I say that I am Mark's fan Número UNO HERE. Secondly I agree [99%] with sureshot. The 1% I don't agree with is that Mustain should transfer to the other USC. The one on the right coast and join coach Steve Spurrier who some might say is just as good as Norm Chow among the CFB QB gurus.
The third thing I have to say is: TrojanBob do you know how to spell or define hypocrite?
Thank you
Hey El Cap, TrojanBob was defending Mark Sanchez.
I agree wholeheartedly with what he wrote.
Fight on!
Dear Brentwood Trojan,
On behalf of all of your white pride brethren: Way to tell it like it is!
Sincerely,
David Duke
Professional Racist
Bar none, your 'our backup quartbacks are caucasian, so there!' post easily qualifies as the dumbest I've read on this site. Thanks for giving us a peak of the hood in your closet.
Geez, anybody recall Rodney Peete, almost a Heisman Trophy winner for SC?
I don't care if my quarterback is purple, as long as he wears a Trojan uniform I am behind him.
sureshot:
I still don't buy into TB's statement(s). He knows what I'm talking about.
as i've said all along.
CORP 4 PREZ
Bottom line boys, these are "our" Trojans. Mark, Mitch and Aaron are all big parts of the Trojan family. Whether Mark is starting and either Aaron or Mitch is backing him up, they are still "Trojans". Game time is almost here, and the fight will be on the field. Let's keep our eyes on the big prize and support our Trojans, no matter who the QB is. Fight On!
The team is extremely fortunate that Mark has two quality backups. It is a long season, injuries are a very real part of it. I'm thankful that both Corp and Mustain are available.
LJ did you forget about Mike Rae and Vince Evans both USC QB's before Rodney Peete?
I guess it's a good thing that we have three quality qb's because no team in the history of cfb has EVER lost two qb's on two consecutive plays...
oh, wait, what? Craft who? ok, nevermind.
Don't forget Rocky Hinds either!
The Donkey is waiting for Brentwood to sign in under Pardee and defend himself again.
Damn! Troyjan&Tonic you got me! Frame it you will NOT get me again! Trust me!
Touché!
