Could BCS Go Through MAC?

| | Comments (1) |

No Mid-American Conference football team is ranked in the preseason coaches' poll, but that does not mean the MAC is irrelevant. MAC teams will face a school that is ranked in the preseason Top 25 poll 10 times this year, including No. 1 Georgia.
The little conference did enjoy a magical weekend on Sept. 20, 2003: Marshall upset No. 6 Kansas State 27-20 in Manhattan; Toledo beat No. 9 Pittsburgh 35-31 and Northern Illinois shocked No. 21 Alabama 19-16 in Tuscaloosa.

We all respect Bear and all as well as Pitt but either one loses to community college caliber teams on a regular basis and this has been the case for a good many years.

People were ready to bulldoze the Coliseum after a couple decades of ball without a NC despite some Rose Bowl wins, top ten showings, etc. while facing PAC 10 competition that was indisputably the best offensive conference in the nation.

I hope we get this sort of love and respect if those days ever come again. Bah, perish the thought.
