Jackson's Rollercoaster Day
Freshman defensive end Malik Jackson was not cleared for the morning practice because problems arose with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Remember, we mentioned a couple weeks ago the NCAA was waiting for his senior-year transcript.
Eventually, the problem was cleared up and Jackson was cleared and he was allowed to participate in the afternoon workout.

What is the status of Nick Perry and Curtis McNeal? Will they play?
NO. Now, they may still get cleared, but they have missed too much of camp to have a realistic shot of playing this season. Can you say grayshirt? Actually, we have the scholarships, so I think they would red if and when they clear.
Are they eligble to play?
I heard Nick Perry can replace Lawerance Jackson and Curtis McNeal is a Desmond Reed/ Maurice Jones-Drew/ Garrett Wolf type player. This recruiting class is a dissapointment, first the decommitts of Polk and Adams, then Campbell not qualifying and then Simmons, this is another episode of why USC needed to offer more players for depth and playing time.
I don't think this recruiting class has been a disappointment at all. The coaches have stated that they've never had a group of freshman who have come in so ready to play. Brice Butler, Blake Ayles, Matt Kahlil, Matt Meyer, Wes Horton, Jurrell Casey??? Oh yea, TJ Bryant? I think that's a fair trade for Joe Adams.
Chris Polk was not a great loss. He was definitely a good pick up for the Huskies and he'll probably play significant minutes this year, but he's no better than Shoemate or Butler. Add to that the fact that the other recruits just really didn't like the kid that much, and it seems more like everybody wins.
I mean, if that's disappointing, I'll take it.
Good stuff, taxi, thanks for the insight. And the optimism.
