About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Do you know if there is a contract/agreement that the Song Girls have to sign where they state they will abide by a certain code of conduct off the field?
Fox Sports West replays college football games (mostly Pac-10) from previous seasons. I'd say the channel has replayed last year's Oregon-USC game significantly more often than other USC games. In your opinion, does this fact have anything to do with Oregon's songleader supremacy? After all, the Ducks were victorious in that game. Perhaps the media is in-cahoots with Nike, and the game is a marketing ploy to showcase their program.
More embarrassing off the field behavior - USC football players of the 2000s or USC Song Girls of the 2000s?
Is Tim Tessalone even aware of "The Look" that Dolly Rouse said was imperative to possess if someone wanted to be Song Girl?
Prior to this decade, were there ever any other embarrassing USC Song Girl scandals? Is this just a recent trend?
I believe a new Pac 10 commissioner has now been appointed. Can you give us any (or link us) biographical information. Do you expect much of anything to change with a new commissioner or are we destined to remain the Versus Conference, wedded til death do us part to the Rose Bowl - and thus have the greatest difficulty in upgrading our bowl alignments?
Thanks in advance
Does the latest stalling tactic by Reggie Bush's attorney, David Cornwell, to appeal the judge's ruling against confidential arbitration, indicate that the Bush camp fears that Lloyd Lake is prepared to give his deposition in spite of the long term legal implications?
Who is a better all around futbol player. Christiano Ronaldo or Kaka?
Who do you predict will be the starting 11 on offense and defense for the Va game? Thanks for the open forum, Scott.
Scott-
How likely do you think it is that Alex Stephenson is granted immediate eligibility???
If you were a political reporter or in advertising or something else, would you attend USC football games as a fan? Would you buy season tickets? Would you join Cardinal and Gold or a support group? Do you think you would be more or less critical of the team if not reporting on it as your job? Who's USC jersey number would you wear any era and which one from the 2008 team? No saying you are above wearing them because you wear soccer jerseys constantly!
Tollner...at Salute?
Scott, do you think guys like Bradford, Gable, and Parsons regret coming to USC to be 2nd stringers and shifted around, rather than 1st stringers at other schools?
Scott, do you think the coaches at USC tell recruits what they want to hear to get them to sign? How else do you explain the 2nd and 3rd stringers who could start for most other D1 programs? Do you suspect anything shady is going on...like the "limo" sent for Brian Price...things like that?
SW, what do expect out of Drew McAllister and Armond Armstead this year. Will Drew most likely being playing on special teams? Fight On!
Jeff Goodman reported that the reason Johnson transferred was because he wasn't guaranteed a starting position. This is what he said:
"I just got off the phone with former USC guard Angelo Johnson and he confirmed that he is transferring to Southern Mississippi.
He also told me that USC coach Tim Floyd’s statements about Johnson leaving because he wasn’t assured the starting point guard job are accurate.
``That’s all true what Coach Floyd said,” Johnson said. “I thought that being a freshman and playing behind the number three overall pick, I should have the spot handed to me. I felt like I earned it already.”"
Is Johnson just lying? What's up with this?
There are no commits for the football recruiting classes for the past weeks, when and who will be the next commits for USC?
The last recruting class which was lackluster and disappointing for USC and could be worse without Perry and McNeal and the recent drought of playmakers on the team an issue. With UCLA rising and many USC stars leaving this year and next year like Mays, Sanchez, all the current linebackers and secondary and recruiting not at its usual level, will USC run end as Florida State and Nebraska did?
Can you provide us info on blogs like this for opposing teams sometime during the week before we play that team (e.g. a Virginia columnist's blog next week, etc.)? It would be interesting to read the opposing side's stories, in my opinion.
Haven't heard much on Stanley and Goodman in Fall camp? Is the FB role changing at all this season? I could foresee even more of an emphasis on blocking to help the inexperienced O-line, and fewer passes with the focus on Joe Mac out of the backfield. Even fewer carries with Allen as the power back. But, Stanley is a stud and Goodman a monster. Any changes to how the FB is used this season, Scott?
Scott, another Reggie question----what do you think the odds are that the case ever goes to trial? As always, sincere thanx.
Will Busted Coverage, one of the greatest "promoters" of the USC Song Girls on the internet, will be attending the tryouts for the next squad in October?
How do you think the defense will do against the spread this year? I know SC performed well against Illinois, but this offense has caused SC (and everyone else) problems.
Any updates on the athletic dept.'s hilarious COUNTER ACTION, a desperate attempt to save face? Why are they so blind in seeing that the main culprits for Song Girlgate are the people in charge who have systematically chosen girls who are unattractive and act tacky in public? The athletic dept.'s lack of self-awareness is baffling. They should just make sure the squad chooses attractive girls, eliminate corruption and nepotism and this problem will be all over. But alas, not only have they been in denial, but they seem intent on continuining a new tradition this decade of aesthetically-challenged and salacious-inclined Song Girls.
What is the status of Brandon Carswell? I remember reading how well he had played on the scout team last year and how he was a candidate to not redshirt last year because he ran great routes and caught everything thrown to him. Now, I don't hear a peep (with the exception of the TD pass in the first scrimmage).
Is he a guy who might get a little PT this year? He strikes me as kind of a Steve Smith guy. (great production and intangibles from a person you wouldn't suspect)
Thanks in advance!
Is it possible for you to find out what the coach and/or members of the UCLA Dance Team think about the recent scandalous pictures of the USC Song Girls that have now become a part of American popular culture?
You said recently how you expected the athletic department to inform athletes to seriously consider what they put on their Facebook profiles, in light of the recent embarrassing pictures of USC athletes and the Song Girls appearing on the internet. So have steps been taken to ensure that athletes (and Song Girls) think twice about putting incriminating pictures on their Facebook profiles, or whether they should even have such pages? Why was nothing done by the athletic department over a year ago when Clay Matthews gained national attention for his "White Nation" group on Facebook? The signs were clearly there before all the recent Facebook scandals, so why weren't athletes warned about having public profiles over a year ago, which would have prevented all the recent scandals from coming to light, causing major embarrassment to the university and its public image in the process?
Allen Bradford apparently wants to play running back and the coaches are grudging giving him a "chance" but it's been speculated that he's capable of playing a number of positions, including linebacker and safety.
I was hoping you could give your opinions on the possible directions of his athletic career including:
-If you took away the team competition and make him the starting running back (receiving the bulk of the carries), linebacker, safety or another position; where does he excel the most?
-Putting the competition back into consideration; on what position do you think he should focus during his career at USC and possibly on into the NFL?
-Any additional thoughts you may have on his potential and mindset.
Wolfie, in my Reggie question just slightly above, I meant to ask what you think the odds are that the case ever gets to the point of deposition taking and/or trial. Sorry for my error. Thanx as always.
Just as a point of information, I called the athletic dept. yesterday [Thur.], because I had read conflicting times for the starting time of the scrimmage in the formerly big LA paper, and I was promptly told " It starts at 6pm." How did they know I was a reader and contributor to this blog---ha ha---maybe that accounts for the low turnout too. What gives with that crazy dept.?
Scott:
All joking aside, in your time covering SC, what has been your favorite feel-good success story related to the football team? Who will be this year's breakout success story?
How long before Henry Bibby was fired as the basketball coach did USC athletic department officials contact and offer Rick Majerus the job? Is it true that following Paul Hackett's firing in 2000, when the athletic department took out interest-bearing loans from the university's general fund to pay off the remainder of all the coaches' contracts, USC's senior vice president for administration said that from that point on, the athletic department would have to have all the funds in place before any more employee terminations would occur prior to the end of their agreed upon contracts? As a result, is it accurate that the athletic department had to wait for the funds of USC's split of Cal's BCS appearance to clear before Bibby was fired, hence why he was abruptly fired mid-season rather than before or after the season?
