Brian Cushing is taking reps in practice at middle linebacker. Why? Because without Luthur Brown or Chris Galippo, USC does not want to throw a true freshman (Uona Kavienga) in perhaps the most stressful defensive position if Rey Maualuga got hurt.
It was a handful for Maualuga his freshman year. So if something happens, expect to see Cushing.
