Would you start Mark Sanchez at quarterback against Virginia with one week of practice or would you start Aaron Corp or Mitch Mustain instead?

I would start Mark to see how his leg feels for sure. Hopefully we get a good lead in the game and get him out of there so he can rest up for Ohio State. Ideally first half Mark then second half Corp and Mustain.
Sitting out a week or two of practice isn't going to erase all he's learned about the offense in the last three years or affect his ability to be a vocal leader.
Even if he's slow to start, it may give him a bit more momentum rolling into the Ohio State game.
caesar, i'd really like to know how mitch mustain earned the start over a seems to be full strength sanchez who has the support of his teammates and coaches..let alone aaron corp who has seemed to have been making more plays in scrimmages and turned the ball over less frequently than mustain...just a thought

This is my objective comment. Two other members of the LA media LA Times(Gary Klein) and usc.freedomblogging.com have extensively documented(reported) the grasp of the offense by both MM and AC.
Thank you SW and company...

I would rather not see Sanchez start the year off with Ohio State as his first game. He needs this warm up game. And who knows, Virginia will be fired up to play the Trojans so it might be a ballgame, which means SC will need Mark.

Absolutely Sanchez! with Aaron Corp in reserve, to hopefully mop up (and gain experience) in the 4th qtr.
Sanchez is the QB, earned it, deserves it, and according to what's published, seems to be healthy enough to perform. He knows the offense, is the most experienced at this particular offense and is way ahead of the others. It's game on time, Sanchez will be outstanding. He is his teams QB! Were lucky to have such talented backups. I hope that we give them both a good chance to play in mop up situations this season!
btw..el cap..please, tell us according to your professional experience, what do you think is the likelyhood of re injury tendency to that area that MS had disturbed? Thanks..

Hello Sir, how are you? Hello, LJ! How's GT? BTW check with GT and drop me a line. In answer to your question I talked to a former CFB LB and he thinks Mark will be OK. The fans need to trust PC and the USC trainers. IMHO USC can't go to a BCS bowl without Mark. I think that some of of you
that have followed USC for a while(>15 Years) would agree with that assessment. I honestly think that MS is wearing that brace as a precaution. Let's see what PC says after Monday's practice.
Take care!

Well LeefDizzle,
I seriously doubt SC cares what any of us think, but IMO, if Mark Sanchez is not 100% then Mitch Mustain should get the start. Not to say Aaron Corp couldn't. Heck, I think Garrett Green could do a great job.
Am I right? Maybe I should take the next week communicating all the dumb decisions I have made in my life before I go on. But that being said, if SC gives me a few million a year I will take all the blame if it does not go well.

Mark needs the start. He only has 3 starts in his career. His next to next game is a natl championship week 2 game. He will improve game to game over the first half of the season. UVA should be way down, but could easily give us fits. Mark is the man. He has been anointed by the staff and team and needs to assume the role from the get-go. Fight on, MS. Stay healthy!
The Donkey feels Sanchez should dip his toes in the pool and get into the season...forget the dip, dive into the pool.
If replacing Mark with the back up QB at one point during the game will not affect the positive outcome game, then give Aaron a chance to get his feet wet.

actually I agree, MM, GG, AC or MS would all do fine..the coaching staff seems to prefer Sanchez so I am sure he will start...it's just a question of for how long will he play? If it is a close game he will play the whole time. That would he fine with me, to get warmed up for tOSU. tOSU has a very good team, loaded with experienced seniors who have been in the NC game and are not going to be overwhelmed playing in the colisseum. Their talent level is the same as USC's and USC is in for a real tough game. I think we will win, as the suckeyes don't have much of a pssing game and if you stop beanhead Wells they have no offense..which our LB's can do. That is how LSU beat them...the LSU D-line was so good beanbrain couldn't make his usually 8 ypc and without any good WR's tOSU was toast....can hardly wait to see Rey Rey lay out "beanie" !! haha..he is going to knock him back into yesterday!

I'd start Sanchez if he's 90% healthy or better.

Mitch Mustain.
He earned it.
Can't make the same mistake as last year.
Sanchez is fine, and he will start.
