Sanchez Update
Mark Sanchez does not want to make predictions that might place pressure on the doctors, but things look better than expected after Dr. James Tibone examined him. Tibone said Sanchez did not look like he would play against Virginia on Friday but now he is not sure if he will play or not.
``Things are ahead of schedule,'' Sanchez said.
Sanchez will be off his crutch tonight and see how it feels tomorrow. He said he does not know if he will be able to play the season-opener yet.

Hopefully he had the type of injury you move past pretty quickly. Having suffered it myself, I think Andrew Bynum is more the exception than the rule. The main thing to focus on for Mark is to strengthen the muscles and connecting tissue around the patella to lessen the chance of recurrence. It will probably happen again anyway (just by the nature of football), but if he has no structural damage he'll get through it.
Good luck to Mark...seems like a quality guy who's passionate about football.
Hopefully he isn't going to rush back before it's safe, it's better to have him miss Virginia and be healthy for Ohio State than to have him knocked out for the season.
Everybody keep forgetting that Andrew Bynum had arthroscopic surgery due to an ACL problem. ALL the reports indicate that Mark did NOT suffer any structural damage. Sam is right bring Mark back carefully with a well regimented care plan. It seems that in a few days he'll be able to stand-up without crutches while watching for any swelling. At this point any TWISTING is a foul word. The trainers know that better than we do!
Actually, El Capitan, Bynum loose cartilage under the kneecap that caused swelling. Without that, I can see Sanchez back without missing too much time...hold him out of Virginia as a precausion and to get more time to rehab and strengthen the muscles/ligaments around his knee. I think he plays OSU without a doubt...
...unless Mustain/Corp is on fire vs UVA.
Wise words. I hate to see him miss the season opener, but the smart move here is probably to rest/rehab him through UVA, then have 2 full weeks of prep against OSU. Unless we are losing at half-time to UVA. And, if we are way ahead, let him play a few series in the 4th quarter. I hate to look past an opponent, and Stanford has taught us all that lesson, but UVA SHOULD BE way, way down this year and Mustain/Corp will easily play well enought to win that game going away, if the universe is in balance that day.
