A few readers and the athletic dept. are glad football practice starts this week because it might slow down the momentum of Song Girlgate.
Q: In the now infamous picture of former Song Girl Sarah Carmona and her beer bong, there are several other former Song Girls also in that picture. The brunette who is behind Ms Carmona and is staring into the camera, is still involved in some way with the Song Girls. I am not sure if it is as a member of the selection committee, perhaps as a choreographer, but she still has some formal involvement. Is it really appropriate that someone who has pictures taken with a lewd beer bong should be allowed to continue her involvement with the Song Girls? Shouldn't we expect some kind of appropriate public behavior from those who represent this USC institution?
A: This is part of the problem. I am only vaguely told which former song girls are involved with the selection committee, which raises doubts about the process and transparency and the selections.
Q: I have to ask, what is the word coming from both the Song Girl camp and athletic department regarding pictures of the Song Girls drinking beer from a male genitalia bong and engaging in lesbian activities?
A: So far, it's been rather muted but I suspect I'll hear more once football practices start.
Q: With all these pictures of Song Girls in less than wholesome situations showing up on the internet, is the name of that scandal "Song Girls Gone Wild"? Could it fall under the umbrella of Song Girlgate or is it a whole different scandal?
A: It's a big umbrella but these pictures definitely took things to a level none of us ever imagined, do maybe Joe Francis will be involved next.
Q: Scott, what is the Athletic Department's opinion of the current and former Song Girls behavior in those infamous photographs making the rounds on the internet? What are the planning to do to address this issue. Do they consider these photos to be reflective of the values that USC espouses for its representatives and athletes?
And finally, will they consider opening up Song Girl tryouts to the general public?
A: People have not answered by questions regarding this topic, mainly because they want it all to disappear. But I'm gonna see if I can get some answers this week.
Q: Now that we are in the midst of an unprecedented USC Song Girl Sleazy Sex Scandal, could there possibly be a better time for Tricia Pillsbury to come back to USC and save the day?
