Too soon to say. Most do not remember 72 Trojans. Different era but they were so fast on defense. DE's were faster than opposing backs. And the secondary still holds the intercept record. A backfield of Rod McNeil, AD and Sam Bam was something. Mike Rae had a great year. Tight end was Charles Young and wideouts J.K. and Lynn Swann. And still the star of team was OL.

Probably not as much depth as 2008.

Buckeyes tough team but its a Hayes throwback. It is not as good as Buckeyes USC devoured in 73 Rose Bowl.

Cal and Oregon will give more of a game. But I don't see an upset.

I must be going bonkers because PaulMor finally said something intelligent (you dish it out kiddo, so learn to take it). Although I don't know the '72 team like he knows it, (he must be a real over-the-hill guy), I have read about it, and it had umpteen greats, certainly a team to contend with the '80s Miamis and '90s Nebraskas, not to mention the mid-2000s Trojans.

And I was at the game yesterday and it is hard to get a read on the team quite yet. As Coach Carroll said we are not even at the 1/4 mark of the season. The offense was sluggish and the defense gave up some mid-range running plays. And when the Bucks got behind the Trojan defense had the upperhand knowing that OSU had to throw to get back in the game, and thus SC simply teed off on the defenseless OSU quarterbacks.

That said, I like Sanchez's feel for the game. Someone said he reminds them of Brett Favre. Not the prettiest quarerback (a la Leinart), but usually gets the job done.

And in my opinion Joe McKnight is faster than Reggie Bush, although Bush might have been more shifty, and I don't know if anybody could be better in college history than Bush.

The defense would appear to be one of the best in Trojan history, and as we all know, defense wins championships.

Lawer JOhn I don't need to learn anything when I examine source.

And yes I am a real over the hill guy. But the run up was something.

Bush had weaknesses, McNight does not. Joe is tougher.

Yes, best team of PC era. Best Def of the PC era. And, probably 3rd best Off. So, best balance ever, as the Leinart era was offense dominated. The Booty era was defense dominated. The Carson era was not at this level. This is the best team of the PC era. And, we have NEVER played this well this early in the season. It always takes several games for all the components to gel. Why are we so good, so early? Sanchez's leadership? Also, no major coaching staff changes in offseason, so the system and processes did not skip a beat this year. Fight on!
