Congratulations, Mitch
USC got Virginia to change its final touchdown from a run to a pass. That means quarterback Mitch Mustain gets credited with a 10-yard scoring pass to tailback Marc Tyler
Virginia's stat crew ruled the touchdown a run during the game because it said the pass occurred behind the line of scrimmage.

That's what I'm talking about Don Key! Good for Mitch. That's one more TD than Matt Cassel threw!
Scott or anyone.
What is the football practice schedule this week and next week. Where can I find it. Are people allowed to come in the middle and leave early?
Good Job Mitch.
TD or NOT-lateral?-MM is the number three qb on the depth chart...
Matt Cassel didn't come to USC with any ?'s...
Pass or run, it still counts as six on the board. Good for Mitch though.
But why is Pete always so concerned about changing the stats? Why does he even care? I thought his concern was getting pumped and going out on the field and competing. This is like the third or fourth year in a row that he's gotten involved in such foolishness.
I bet MLB is glad Pete isn't the manager of the Brewers. Can you imagine the stink he would have raised on CC Sabathia's error/no hitter?
Fight on!
"Virginia's stat crew ruled the touchdown a run during the game because it said the pass occurred behind the line of scrimmage."
Um, if that's why they ruled it a run, then that stat crew should be fired. Whether a pass occurs behind or past the line of scrimmage is irrelevant in this ruling. It only matters whether or not the pass is thrown forward or backward.
LenDale White was at the game. Maybe he was concerned that Marc Tyler might be on corse to break his rushing TDs record.
writingben,
clearly Scott doesn't know the rule himself, because even if he is accurately relaying the stat crew's position (which is almost inconceivable), Scott never explains to his readers that whether the ball was caught behind the line of scrimmage or not is totally irrelevant to whether it's a forward pass.
Of course, this is entirely consistent with Scott otherwise not knowing anything about football generally or college football specifically.
Mitch Mustain is a fine young man.
