Conventional Wisdom
I have not heard a single talking head/blowhard yet who does not think USC will do anything less than blow out Ohio State. I have not made a prediction yet but it's always dangerous when a groupthink forms (especially when Anthony Davis is allowed on TV).
It's early in the season, but a dull performance against Ohio and rout of a team that beat Richmond 16-0 seem to have firmed up the ``analysts'' opinion. Among those is CBS analyst Spencer Tillman, who said USC ``looked like world beaters.''

Since no AP voter except Jon Wilner ranks the Trojans lower, is it safe to assume that you think the Trojans are going to lose and prove you right?
Oh nonsense, Wolf. Plenty of people are predicting a close game. College Football News predicts and OSU Win. You need to get out more. Colin Cowherd also said it will be a close game, that the Ohio game was an aberration, and that Ohio State will play well.
Stop trying to be so contrary.
I'm neither a talking head or a blowhard but my "expert" opinion is USC 38- OSU - 17
Odd, all the people I've listened to on ESPN (710) are predicting a close game, relatively low-scoring. Are you sure you didn't mean "read" instead of "heard?"
If this was true, this would be a perfectly reasonable observation. Since every single talking head has said the exact opposite, I'm guessing ol' SW just wants to be able to say "I told you so...groupthink is dangerous...the Trojans just aren't the team that everyone thought they were...and only I, in my wisdom, saw this coming."
I'm sure glad we have talking head/blowhard newspaper hacks to set the record straight.
Poor Scotty. It must be tough when those in the "big time media," those with a national voice, don't subscribe to your anti-USC mantra.
By the way, you might want to put down the ham radio and the Eurpoean soccer highlights and invest in XM or Sirrius. There are more than a few "experts" out there who believe this will be a very close game.
This is the way every one thought about Texas game.
USC has played down to the Idahoe's too, and Wells did not play. Virgina is not a test, but USC's precision was impressive.
I am one of those optimistic guys, too. Not because of games, but looking at match-ups and fact USC in tight game has more guys that can make the big play.
Wolf is just stating the truth and the fact that it is not decided by annalists but on the field.
It is now early morning on 9-11. Don't forget to say a prayer.
And don't forget to say a less serious prayer for Mr. Wolf that he might become a bit more optimistic and thus happier.
That said, I have to agree with his implication that this will be a close game. Ohio State returned nearly all of its men from a very good team that went to the championship, although it got beat badly by Florida, but the Gators can do that to you. It has a 5th year senior quarterback and his backup, who will play some, was the No. 1 guy in the U.S. They have an experienced offensive line, an all-american halfback (if he is not hurt too badly), and defensively it has an all-american linebacker.
SC blew out a weak Virginia team. If I played my wife in football I would blow her out too, but I don't believe that would be a reliable read on how well I play the game. SC still has a lot to prove, especially this being Sanchez's 5th game.
But home field advantage helps. I look for a close game until the fourth quarter when SC will run away (although only slightly) 27-17.
But John, surely with your wife as hot as she is, she must stand a chance against you merely by flaunting her feminine wiles. A little leg action to get you thinking of something else and "boom" you're on your back and she's in the endzone!
Give the woman some credit LJ.
Now we know why he is called 'sureshot'-- I mean, the guy just never misses.
Stay away from SW's "conventional wisdom" (sorry, I'm almost chocked when I said that), has anyone seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvwYUg5i_5Y Yes SW, a lot of people truly believe that the Trojans will win this game in a dominate fashion. Of course though, most of us don't have your insight or wisdom. (wow, I may have to go to hospital after saying that). Fight On!
ESPN is reporting Beanie Wells is doubtful.
I know Trev Alberts and the other guy with him on ESPNU both picked OSU, but the host picked USC
