Maualuga Update
We told you about Rey Maualuga collapsing at the Charlottesville Airport from dehydration after the game. Maualuga said after practice he thinks part of the problem was he took two Vicodin before the game because of the pain in his broken finger.

This is nonsense. As a 3x marathoner I know that dehydration should never be a problem. You start hydrating 5 days before a hot humid game. Ive never read that any pain reliever will accelrate your dehydration.
And WTF is he taking a Vicoden before a game for? Dont those things knock you out?
Scott or anyone.
What is the football practice schedule this week and next week. Where can I find it. Are people allowed to come in the middle and leave early?
He played like that on Vicodine? Grover, Vicodine will dehydrate you. And if his hand hurt, the usual treatment is a local (lidocaine, etc.).
USC86, just spoke to my brother who is a pharmacist and is on faculty at the USC Pharmacy School..he said Vicodin does not dehydrate you. He also said at his pharmacy Vicodin is known as vitamin V.....in other words, there so many people on Vicodin.
I didn't know Eric Wright was the team pharmacist? Or was that Demon Reed? Or wait, I guess we couldn't bust them both since it was in their room.
Amazing. I'm sure he had a prescription.
Looking at some of the side effects, Vicodin sure doesn't sound like the type of drug that one should take BEFORE a game (let alone two Vicodin). I wonder if he did this on his own, or if medical staff was involved. By the way, Brett Favre developed a dependency on Vicodin.
According to Wikipedia: Among the side effects for Vicodin are ... severe weakness, dizziness, hyperventilation, unusual fatigue, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, sweating, hot flashes, decreased urination. Vicodin (in terms of hydrocodone) also has depressant effects on the central nervous system. However, some of the less mundane effects can be desirable effects that are sought after by some. Those effects include euphoria and drowsiness, as well as slowing of the pulse.
