About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Sometimes it's not what you say, it's what you leave out. For instance, with regard to Nick Perry's eligibility:
Scott quoted Pete Carroll with: “Sometimes guys just don’t get it done.”
Adam Maya quoted Pete Carroll with: “Sometimes guys just don’t get it done and it takes them all the way into overtime,” Carroll said. “Those two guys are in overtime now.”
To me, Scott's quote sounds like Pete is giving up on Perry & McNeal. Adam Maya's quote sounds like Pete is still holding out hope while acknowledging that time is running out. In this case, I think the omission of the second part of the quote completely changes the meaning of what Pete said and is just another example of Scott's ever-so-subtle attempts to inject his own opinion into the USC narrative.
I'm curious to hear what others think about things like this though. I know ScottFactChecker will agree with me, but do others, or am I just being hyper-critical?
I assume that Adam Maya accurately described the quote. If so, Scott should have at least used ellipses to denote a truncated quote. He should have wrote: “Sometimes guys just don’t get it done....” to show that he omitted a portion of the quote. As noted by Sureshot, the quote is taken out-of-context and provides a different meaning than Carroll intended.
Again, just another example of Scott stirring the pot. Good eye, Sureshot.
"Sureshot... Sometimes it's... what you... said. ... Pete is giving up on... Scott's... opinion."
This is more than just stirring the pot Scott. As the LA Times establishes, Pete definitely also commented on them being in overtime. Scott, the first order of business for you is to accurately quote your sources. In this case you didn't, and your failure misled the readers. How many other quotes in your articles or posts are inaccurate? Can we rely upon you to give us the whole story? You need to own up to this and apologize.
The Donkey agrees with Sureshot.
