Poll Fun
Of course, USC coaches never care about the rankings. But offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian could not resist mentioning my AP ballot in a meeting this week, which he sheepishly admitted after I asked him about it Wednesday.
I resisted this comeback from a former Daily News colleague: ``I would have voted USC No. 1 if Norm Chow were the offensive coordinator.''

So your colleague voted for UCLA as No.1?
Sark has clearly surpassed his former mentor, Chow. Chow's offense was always a very gimmicky, dink and dunk offense that led to tons of opportunities for tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Sark has an absolutely beautiful offensive system going now that blends west coast, spread, and play action run. He also has a QB who can extend the field with the deep ball, and is nimble enough to buy time under pressure. All the Sark haters from the last two seasons owe the man an apology.
Look at me, I'm Scott Wolf and I'm a contrarian. Scott, Narcissism is thy name.
As for Sark's offense, I have noted the lack of bubble screens. Coincidentally, the Chicken Littles of this blog - RickyIrvins [sic] and USC 89 - have not been heard from since the whooping of Virginia.
Good stuff, DFWTrojan.
And uscmike, welcome. Have not heard much from you lately. What's the problem, you are not in to song girls during the summer? But recall how Mr. Wolf recently stated, and has always said, that he does not read the responses to his blog (do you believe this?) So apparently we cannot directly insult the man.
But he must know how he is berated on his own blog. And, oh my gosh, would you want to live in his skin, even for one day?--that is the ultimate punishment.
Norm certainly showed his genius in Utah. Perhaps he laid down because it was his beloeved BYU. I'm sure he'll have something huge for Arizona.
Not heard from? No. Whopping of VA? Yes, something USC should do to a team that loses to that power of football powers, UCONN.
So far so good. Lets see if they can go an entire season without shooting themselves in the foot the way they have the past 3 years, despite having the best talent in the country.
I think saying that Sark has "clearly surpassed his former mentor" is taking it way too far in the other direction, DFW. Chow's record of success stretches back 30-some year. He is still the master. Let's just say that Sark has become an outstanding o-coordinator and leave it at that........
you are truly nauseating.
and please don't flatter yourself by assuming that your "shock" value consistently attracts readers: i can assure you that this will be the last time that i ever visit this site.
all the best,
rational trojan fan.
It's amazing that such a little weasel like Wolf gets attention for being such an idiot.
The Donkey knows that Scott resisted "resisted this comeback..." only because he would have crapped his pants if Sark got angry.
The Donkey also believes Scott is nothing but a chickens--t human for running away from a confrontation and then run to his blog and post a retort.
When it comes to attacking defenses and QB development, Chow still has a leg up on Sark but when it comes to things like motivating the troops, leadership and recruiting, Sark is ahead of Chow.
Scott would have said something to Sark, but he left his list of comebacks at home.
Surely the grinch (SW) knows that the coaches do care about the rankings, they just claim not to. As they should.
And I'm glad Sark took a shot at the grinch. I'd be angry (or at least very annoyed) too if some bag of douche was publicly saying that the only reason he doesnt vote sc #1 is because my predecesor is no longer there. Kind of a cheap shot at Sark.
