About Penalties
Yesterday we focused on how Pete Carroll called the Pac-10 about how few penalties USC opponents received this season. The flip side of that is the Trojans average 73 yards in penalties per game, which is the second-highest mark in the conference.

I would hope if Pete wanted to complain to the League office about penalty calls on the other team, he would provide some specifics. I haven't seen too many bad calls against USC this season but have seen some bad no calls against USC. I think PC needs to focus his energy on getting fewer penalties called on us.
I believe the statistic that was used in the past to show bias against SC was that every team we played was penalized significantly less when they played us then they were penalized in games against anybody else.
i.e. Arizona averages 6 penalties a game with a low of 4 and only is penalized once against us. When this happens with a couple of teams it could be coincedental. When it happens with every team it shows something is going on.
I agree that the statistics just don't seem to lie. I explain it that our athletes are so amazing, the refs subconsciously watch them more. Either that, or the refs are mad about our SGs.
