We asked Mitch Mustain what he thought caused the offense's recent woes.
``It's a lot of things, who knows?'' Mustain said. ``There's big reasons, small reasons. It's a tough one to answer, to be honest.''

Well, gosh, Scott, I have no idea.

Maybe it is because there is no "woe" attached to the offense. Maybe the offense has done pretty well except at Oregon State and Arizona, and maybe it was because these were road games that are difficult to win under the best of circumstances.

But then again, Scott, you don't want to hear this sort of thing, because, Scott, you are so above all of this.

Here is the tough question. Mustain's real answer that he wanted to say, but did not actually say which is what many fans feel is" It's the quarteback, everybody knows the quarterback is the offense! Mark Sanchez has not won a big gamw on the road and makes errors that can hurt the team. Replace him with me. I have never lost a game I started. Tell the coaches to put me in!

Maybe this thought by people is true. The coaches need to consider Mustain and Corp, put them in the game even with a lead.

who cares?

The offense has had woes for 3 years, PC has admitted it, the problems are non disputable but this guy remains in denial. And then he mocks reality, even what a player confirms. One of those who live to write disparaging remarks to the author yet read him faithfully. Although I guess I am just as bad because I read LJ's comments.

Fact is there is no debate.

This is the team that once never scored less than 20 points.

As to Mustain quote, it reminds me of an observation I made when I was present last spring and heard him interviewed. When interviewed he is the reincarnation of Roger Maris.

Sanchez is not the problem. His biggest fault is not seeing the open dump off and trying to force it down field. That will be corrected. He did a good job of dumping off against Buckeyes as WR could not get open, but has seemed to abandon it after the game. Sanchez was running for his life versus Beavers with blanketed receivers but single handed almost brought them back.

The problem is that his receivers do not get space. It is not BMW, DJ and SS running patterns out there. And I find it hard to believe talent like Rojo,, DW and PT do not get open. That problem points to coaching.

What it means, however, is that Sanchez often ends up with no targets and OL does not give time it did against Virginia.

The problem in USC offense is simple. "Where have you gone, Norman Chow..."

As Bob Greise said in 2005 NC game USC QB never like they were once he arrived. But same is true once he was gone, but in reverse.

USC is loaded with dream recruits at skilled positions. Not so unusual for 5-stars not to deliver, but with USC the under performance is so staggery it can't be blamed on players.

At start PC made position switches that were brilliant like McKay did. Today players seem to dictate their positions.

Bradford should have been at FB or D. He might then have been a high draft choice. Gable as a D back may have been a No. 1 pick. The other backs would be getting more carries and into the game.

Competition Tuesday and working freshmen is nice, but game preparation should be the goal. At times it seems the opponent is so much better prepared.

And you didn't see that in NC years.

MM should have thrown Sark under the bus like Sark does to the players. Everyone knows what the problem is with USc. The offense stinks because it is coordinated by a inexpirenced coach , who should be making his bones at UC-Davis , not USC. Same as the other puke before him.

Please, don't encourage PaulMor, or we'll never be rid of him. And he has been exceptionally frisky lately, scolding all who disagree with his views, and even taking on a Halloweener the other day. I'm not saying the man sees the world's cup as half empty, but if he dated a beautiful woman he would complain about the freckle on her shoulder.

Norm Chow was great but get over it already. The man is gone, and the assistant coaches SC has now are not as good but they are getting better.

And don't forget that those 2003-2005 teams had all-timers in Leinart, Bush and White. That was why they were superior to any teams that have followed. And we probably will not see the likes of them ever again.

But SC is still in the running for a national championship in November for the SIXTH straight year. If you cannot enjoy this run as an SC fan then you will be disappointed in Heaven as well.

Scott, what a dumb question. Frankly, I wonder why no one was louder in criticizing the lousy schedule we had at the beginning of the year with TWO byes following TWO games, especially OSU, and then an off-schedule Thurs game, after listening to two weeks of chatter about how unbeatable we were. No rhythm, too much time off, what were they thinking? These are young kids who need discipline and s schedule like that did not provide it and we paid - big time, and are still paying for it and have not yet caught up. All this TV revenue did not make up for what could have cost us a trip to Miami. What were they thinking?
