Answer Monday, Part III

| | Comments (1) |

This segment includes a question about who is redshirting.

Q: Do you ever personally go and check out the Local High School games and the highly sought after recruits?

A: Yes, I've been to five games this season, including the Mater Dei-Centennial game, which was not Matt Barkley at his best. If USC is not on the road, I try to go to a game on Friday night.

Q: Was the SC loss to OSU as shocking to you as Arsenal's loss AT HOME to Hull City ?

A: I think Hull's was more shocking because OSU previously defeated USC in Corvallis. I don't know if Hull ever beat Arsenal in North London before.

Q: After the OSU debacle you commented about Sanchez failing to lead the team to victory when trailing in the 4th quarter (he is 0 for 2 by my count). How many times did Booty lead the team to a victory when trailing in the 4th quarter (I know of 3 times that he failed in this regard)? It seems like a lot to expect of Sanchez when he has only started 6 games in his career (3 of which were last season when he had to replace Booty), especially when his o-line wasn't giving him much time in the pocket.

A: The reason I mention it is because in two of his first six games, there were times USC needed a comeback and he threw three interceptions. John David Booty was highly criticized for a tipped pass on a 2-point conversion against Oregon State, but he also brought USC back from a 23-point deficit that day and within two points of overtime while throwing for about 400 yards.

Q: Any updates to who may be redshirting? What is your overall impression of the freshmen that have played so far? Fight On!

A: Matt Kalil, Matt Meyer, Khaled Holmes, Wes Horton, Brian Baucham, Brice Butler, Nick Perry, Curtis McNeal to name a few. But let's see if Allen Bradford, Shareece Wright and Vidal Hazelton do among the upperclassmen.

Booty should not be criticized for that blown two pt play vs Oregon St in 2006. That was all on me , just a real stupid call. Especially over a 6'8 defensive end. The comeback was cool though. It took me until the final seven minutes to realize OSU couldn't defend the long ball.

Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
