Consolation Prize
Mitch Mustain on at least being the backup QB for two straight games.
``It does beat the alternative,'' Mustain said. ``I don't know if there's consolation or if you get a prize for it. We'll start again Monday.''

About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Goaltending? Seriously? in Inside the Lakers

It cannot hurt that Mustain on two occasions this season really believed he had a legitimate chance of playing because of Sanchez's injuries. The preparedness had to have been more intense than if he were simply practicing as Sanchez's back-up.
And now it looks as if Mark will play Saturday afterall. Well, you take your chances when you go to SC-- some really fine players never saw the field.
At this point, MM has to realize that if he just hangs in there, he will eventually lead the team after Sanchez leaves for the NFL.
nah, sanchez will never be an nfl player. simply does not have the talent to make it to the next level. i am not even sold on him at this level. booty will struggle to last more than a couple of years in the nfl and he was much better, had better poise, and more accurate than sanchez.
Mitch is averaging 1 TO per appearance. He really needs to focus on protecting the ball better.
Dude. Lay off Mustain. He's the freaking backup...As for his "averaging one turnover per appearance," so is Sanchez with three picks and a fumble! Obviously Sanchez is the man but why do we alway have to eat our own at QB?
Hope Mark is healthy for Saturday. Fight on.
Chargers fan, you are truly deluded.
Chargers fan:
An NFL QB must have height, arm strength, intangibles and command/pocket presence. Mobility is a plus.
If you ask on this forum Mark has ALL of the above. Coming out of USC doesn't hurt, either!
Thank you
PLH55:
13 TD's 3 INT's. That is a hell of a ratio, OK? Do you have a better argument?
Thank you
Ok, I'm not going to do the math, but Mustain is averaging APPROX 1 TO every 10 minutes, I think. I root for the kid and it must be hard to come in cold. But, the LAST thing the backup needs to do is TO. I trust that he will improve, but he needs to be careful not to develop an image as loose with the ball.
Individual Statistics
PASSING Cmp Att Pct Yds Yd/A TD Int Rating
Mark Sanchez 80 120 66.7 1,069 8.9 13 3 172.2
Mitch Mustain 6 9 66.7 121 13.4 2 1 230.7
Mustain has played in 3 games. I only see 1 INT, and 2 td's with a qb rating of 230.7 Not sure how that averages out to a 1 turnover per appearance average.
But please, don't let the facts get in the way of a good opinion.
Sanchez' numbers are impressive. I don't think this team would be in bad shape with either of these guys running the show.
What is it going to take to convince the usual suspects that Mark Sánchez is USC starting QB, period? DFWT and company if you can't accept that then TOUGH $#*T...
It's about time for you to move on.
