Poor Attitude On Pasadena

October is never the time to talk about January, but I could not help but mention the number of negative comments I heard from fans at Arizona Stadium and even the airport about not wanting to go to another Rose Bowl. I even heard some song girls were grumbling about the idea.

Well, let's hope the players don't feel that way, because they have no one to blame but themselves. Losing to Oregon State was pathetic.

Well, lucky for them, we may not even get there! If Oregon State wins out we don't even make the Rose Bowl this year. We'll be left pleading for an at-large BCS bid or playing Nebraska at the Holiday Bowl.

More than a few players would prefer an at-large BCS bid or even the Holiday Bowl. No one wants another Beef Bowl or a return trip to Disneyland. I'd call in sick myself.

Hey, the Rose Bowl = the new song girls, rite?

As a Trojan football fan for over 30 years, I have been through the NC's and the Freedom Bowl losses.
Heck, I believe USC played in something called the Bluebonnet Bowl in the late 70's/early 80's.

I know exactly how important the Rose Bowl is to USC. But if I am yawning over another trip, what are a bunch of 20 year olds thinking? You're talking about a venue that is 20 miles from where they attend classes and within 50 miles of 80% of the roster. Wow Disneyland. Wow Beef Bowl! Part of me hopes USC and Oregon State do win out. A 11-1, Top 5 ranked, Trojan team won't have to beg for a BCS invite anywhere. Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta Bowl reps will be lined up outside Heritage Hall in their plaid blazers and Tostitos chips.

Wow! I guess the moniker of "University of Spoiled Children" is somewhat true! LMFAO!

If the current crop of Song Girls (or any of them from this decade, for that matter) are complaining, then I think we should go to the Rose Bowl as a way to punish them!

Run for the Roses 2009!

So much for ' Own the Rose Bowl '. It would be cool going to the Fiesta bowl or Sugar bowl.

I wouldn't have any problem playing in the Rose Bowl just so long as the team on the other side of the field weren't the Buckeye's. If that were to happen we would be playing them 3 times in a year!

Concur, playing in the Rosebowl against Penn State, Alabama, Florida, Texas, OU all would be phenomenal and nothing to be disappointed about.

Too bad we don't have a conference championship game. Afterall, you still get to play 7 or 8 in conf games and your rivals and play all non division teams other every two years.

Of course it would have to be played in someplace like Vegas so it would not be like the ACC snore in Jacksonville. The Rosebowl wouldn't be a foregone conclusion / consolation prize for the conference champion that can't go to NC game because of a loss or two, it would be an achievement.

The way you get to look forward to the big game instead of waiting to see how it all shakes out adds excitement, especially since the PAC 10 has a tie in for a bowl in its backyard.

And so the Rose Bowl has been relegated to yesterday status.

Geez, there was a time in 1966 when UGLA was robbed of a Rose Bowl bid even though beating SC, and the students marched down Wilshire Boulevard, blocking traffic.

Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end.

USC cannot be ungrateful for a Rose Bowl berth, no matter the opponent (imagine an undefeated Penn State left out of a Texas-Alabama NC game!). Obviously, wee all prefer a NC game. However, I would still prefer the Rose Bowl over an at-large berth in the Fiesta, Orange or Sugar Bowl, because it means USC is the Pac-10 Champ. fUCLA may play in the Rose Bowl, but USC owns it.
