To play the most incompetent and unqualified quarterback imaginable, who is a liability on the field, causes more turnovers than a pastry chef, and has done nothing to either earn the position and certainly nothing to hold on to it.

I think the philosophy is to get the defense to win every game.

How many of us who watch SC regularly can practically call the plays before they happen? SC is so predictable. Even that 3rd and 7 I called a run since they will run on 3rd and long when they are in good field position buy out of field goal range. They figure that they have two plays to get a first down since they will go for it on 4th down. Also they make stupid decisions in the 4th quarter trying to get more points than being more conservative and running out the clock. The Arizona game reminded me of the Stanford game at the end. They must be worried about how the score will look to pollsters rather than running out the clock and getting the win. Why else did they throw a sideline pass down field instead of running or dumping a short pass to Havili?

Protect Mark Sanchez and give the ball to running backs.

Its the home run philosophy. They expect a bunch of green O-Linemen to play like seasoned NFL vets and not give them a chance to settle in and get comfortable with their stengths.
The RB's are baffled becasue the O-Line hasn't had a chance to make a statment and start pummelling the D and line backers so you get either 1 yard losses or Home Runs.
Its predictible, does not play to strengths amd instead of establishing control of a game its feast or famine.
I don't like Texas but they spend the first quarter of their games setting things up so that Colt McCoy can shine in the second half.
We have the tools to take the first possession and keep the ball for five minutes. After that the bombs and home run plays would work better.

The team has lost only one game and the expert OC's here claim to be high IQ Head Coaches. As a matter of fact ESPN Lee Corso bluntly stated that USC defense quit versus Oregon State, go figure...

Brad'03 is an idiot. MS has already thrown for 20 TD's this year. People here moan about his "decisions" but when the OC is asking him to force the ball downfield on just about every pass play, what do you expect.

Warchild is dead-on. The philosophy is "run this play, score now." Sark and Pete thinks it is 2005. Remember that in 2005, Leinart threw for 500 more yards than in 2004 (Chow's last year) but also five less TD's and two more INT's (and that's with Dwayne Jarret and Steve Smith and an O-Line that includes four starters in the NFL). And he also complained, as noted on this blog, that the offense was too home-run oriented.

We complained about JDB last year for the same reasons some people complain about Mark, but if the same exact scenario is happening, it's time people start hold and and Pete's feet to the fire.

Their purpose, like any offense, is to score. Obviously.

The offense has looked good in segments this season, Ohio State in first half, Washington State, Oregon State in second half.

It might be the offensive line and the quarterback still need maturation. If so, the offense might be a year away from being quite good. The problem is that the defense will undoubtedly take a step down next year due to talent exiting, so that team might sustain more losses than this year's Trojans.

The philosophy is simple. First pass the ball, then establish the run. The problem with the philosophy is that the strength of the team is its running game (in particular Stafon, who does not get enough carries). The philosophy needs to be adapted for the personnel. Under the current philosophy too much is being expected of Sanchez.

Can anyone identify what USC's philosophy or purpose is offensively? Not really, but everyone can identify El Capitán's purpose and philosopy; it is to be offensive.

Better question of the day Scott...Can you idenify your own philosophy regarding your AP ballot decisions regarding specifically Oregon and LSU?
