``It was ugly. The offense did well at times and sputtered at times.''

As I watched the game, I tried to think of who Mark really reminds me of. I'll probably get a lot of disagreement and slams for saying this, but Mark reminds me a lot of Brett Farve. While he may not have the arm strength and the ball speed that Farve has. Mark has that gun slinger mentality and the "hard, on the field, nose tough" leadership (see the 3rd down play when he ran for the 1st and delivered a shoulder blow to the DB)that Farve presents. While he is definitely prone to “Farve like mistakes”, he has grown by leaps and bounds (no pun intended for his celebrations) as a true team leader. Fight On!

Other than the last play, I don't know how you call it an ugly win. We moved the ball more effectively than they did. Our better execution was reflected on the scoreboard. The game wasn't as close as the score, and were it not for that fumble, they would not have scored a TD.

I believe that UGLY does come into play BoscoH..when stupid penalties and mistakes take alot of the shine off of the finished product. IMHO, USC beat the hell out of Arizona while at the same time beating the hell out of themselves.
Regardless of the really questionable play calling and the rediculous penalizations and mental screwups, USC still beat them to a pulp.
Fight On

Ridiculous and penalties definitely sound better in any sentence...

kptrojan........What game did you see? I was at the game, and Sanchez "thinks" he's Farve. He made really stupid decisions. At the end of the game the roll out pass to the sideline trying to thread the needle instead of a short pass to a wide open Havili that would have had a gain of 8 yards or so and kept the clock moving. He snapped the ball with 15 or 20 seconds left on the 40 second clock when he should have run it down to 1 or 2 during the last few series. They would have never had to punt the ball at the end.

Look back in history gents. Ugly wins in October are the norm. This win was not nearly as ugly as the Arizona St win, and in fact, this team is improving. We'll really start gelling in Nov and run the table. I really don't believe that Texas or Bama are going to make it through their conference champs undefeated. Penn St might, but could still easily lay an egg at Iowa or against Mich St. I still like our chances to make it to Miami, but predict a clusterf**k BCS selection with 3 or 4 quality one loss teams.

TROJANZ, like I said, he reminds of "Farve". And you are stating the same thing I guess. He needs to cut out the Farve like mistakes, that's for sure. Fight On!
