Wright Comparison

Does USC miss cornerback Shareece Wright? The secondary's been fine the past two games but an NFL scout said today that Wright is the best corner USC's had since Will Poole and could easily end up being better.

No, I don't think so. Interesting to know that Shareece is that good, but I don't see any drop off with Pinkard and Thomas playing more. Now, there was the tipped ball that Thomas had against OSU....but, that was a fluke.

I'm with DFWT on this and let’s not forget the surprise of Kevin Thomas. The fact alone that he is playing and that is he healthy helps to make the secondary/corner position stronger (and he has played pretty solidly). Yes, you always take a bit of hit when you lose a caliber player like Shareece. However, PC and the staff do a great job at keeping the refrigerator full. Fight On!

Pinkard is one of few who has been playing lights out.

I don't think that was a fluke for Kevin Thomas deflection for a Beaver TD. It was a bad play (he had both hands on the ball!) that cost USC dearly, unfortunately. Even Jeff Fisher thinks that was not a "pretty solid" play. ;-) But hey, it happens and he is learning.

I hope Wright is able to heal and return safely to the game.

Wright can just flat out play. Do the Trojans miss him? Of course they do!! If you have a shut down corner you are THAT much better. Now, Pinkard and Thomas have been playing well, as expected, but add him into the mix, say this weekend against an ASU that might throw the ball 50 or 60 times and you will learn just how much a player like Wright is missed.
Fingers crossed that the DB's can actually catch the ball this week, there might be a few coming right at them.

Ok scott, I love ya but...

this is the kind of thing that pisses me off...

Will Poole was a 5 star + recruit who had a great NFL career..S. Wright had 3 stars from scout.com...he does lay a big hit on..which is why USC and Rocky Seto loves him..but he also blows alot of assignments. the info you got was probably from a second or third scout from some crap team like the Detroit lions...and you post it here like it is gospel...well..gotta get those internet hits up..hmm Scott? :))

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
