Who gets the Syracuse job?

Q: Any chance Daryl Gross risks his career hiring Lane Kiffin at Syrcause ? And did Tim Davis really leave SC because of Kiffin ?

A: I don't think he can afford to hire another West Coast guy after Greg Robinson. He needs a Syracuse alum or former staff member otherwise he might get the boot if the next coach gets off to a slow start.

Q: The way USC successfully played in the second half, would you say that 'SC maybe found there identity on offense; the running game?

A: Perhaps but I don't think USC will be able to run the ball as easily against other teams (although the next two teams are not highly regarded). But this will probably doesn't fly in a bowl game.

Q: Why haven't you mentioned OJ Mayo's play after his first game?

A: I don't really follow the NBA so unless someone emails me I don't notice but I hear from an NBA beat writer that Mayo is probably a 50-50 pick to win the rookie of the year award.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
