I'm assuming these odds are for the 2009 season, but the 2010 Championship Game.
I just watched Mack Brown's press conference and could not help be a little envious. Not of his recruiting, leadership, or X's and O's. Envious about how he understands the rules of the current "game", also known as the BCS.
It is no longer acceptable for Pete Carroll to shrug when presented with a BCS question and claim ignorance on the subject. Mack Brown says the BCS is not perfect but it is far better than the old system.
He talks up his team and why they should be considered for one of the Top 2 spots if they win out.
All we get from Pete is that the system stinks and we need a playoff. That approach might help Matt Barkley or the next recruit in HS right now. How does that help Cushing, Sanchez or Gable today?
Pete needs to have a plan to approach the BCS CG debate assuming USC can win out. A coach is the face of the team like Obama is the face of his campaign and administration. Right now USC needs to lay the groundwork by saying that if they take care of business they will be right in the hunt.
Then they need to start the Conference Champion argument as in the only teams worthy of the BCS CG berth are those with fewer than 2 losses AND Conference Champions. If Texas Tech, UF, or Alabama win out, then lets enjoy the Rose Bowl or other BCS bowl. But for Pete's Sake, lets be in a position to move up if possible.

antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
